Super 8 by Wyndham Alton 1800 Homer M Adams Parkway, Alton, IL 62002

"My husband booked the room online for 4 nights, we stayed one. When he looked at the receipt it showed an increasing rate for each successive night. The second night was $0.80 more, the third night was, if I recall, another $1.00 additionally, and the fourth night was more yet. I've never seen a hotel try to discourage people from staying longer. Then there was the room. The first one smelled like pee, not ammonia but urine. The front desk lady was kind enough to show us two others, one smelled even more strongly and was ice cold, the other was acceptable. When I say acceptable I mean clean and funk-free. The coffee machine at the front desk was broken and there wasn't one in the room. The shower had almost no pressure for the first several minutes. There were no water cups. The light switches did not work, some of the lamps weren't even plugged in. The heater was loud and clunky, but warmed the space adequately but not well. And then there was the phone call, from the front desk, at 12:30AM. The front desk called because there was a man at the desk who "wanted to talk to the other guest in the room." After asking I was told that "Barry" had assured the front desk clerk that he had spoken to us earlier - which he had not. I cannot adequately express how this intrusive and disquieting phone call interrupted our night and prevented me from returning to the deep sleep I had been previously enjoying. The minor resulting panic attack was "fun" as well. The promised breakfast consisted of waffles, suspicious looking fruit, freezer burned boiled eggs, and box cereal. The only offering I could eat was an egg and it was terrible. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else."

"I came to the Alton Illinois Super 8 location. Did not stay there because of $150 cash deposit. I asked the lady if my card was charged she assured me that it wasn't. I checked my online banking and as of Sunday September 17th there was no charge on my account. Then on Tuesday there was the charge for $85 and some cents for a room that I did not stay in. I called Alton location to try to get this resolved I'm having no luck and today is Friday the 22nd of September and I still have not got my money refunded. I called again I've been talked to very rudely by the front desk young girl that also was the one that I had talked to on Sunday when I would not take the room who assured me that I was not going to be charged. So all those who do stay at Super 8 watch your debit and your credit card for charges for rooms that you did not even stay in."

"My room was exceptionally dirty and had a bad smell. I understand the hotel is old and being remodeled, but no excuse for being dirty. Also, my room did not look like the pics on Google or the Wyndham website."

"This place is being renovated, so give the tired old rooms a break. Remember you are at Super 8 and not The Marriott in the Maldives!!The staff is super friendly and helpful. Kudos especially to Muna, Nick and Erica. Wonderful staff!!"

"The checking in and out was quick and easy. Staff are very pleasant. The TV remote batteries in our room were bad so I took it to the front desk and the lady was very happy to replace the batteries for me. Hotel is being remodeled so there were a few pallets of materials near the entrance door outside. Our room was very clean. This was a great place to stay."
