"My experience w/ Val Verde Nursing Rehabilitation was positive. Any questions, concerns or comments voiced in a courteous manner were promptly addressed. The facility was consistently clean. For the most part, the staff was courteous, professional, and dutiful. The director of nursing was visible, hands on, and approachable as well as the assistant director of nursing was patient, caring, and compassionate who was at time Edna. She took the time to keep me abreast of any developments regarding my father and took the time to teach my mother on how to best ergonomically care for my bedridden father in order to avoid hurting one self. Edna also provided invaluable tips such as buying surgical button up shorts which would make changing my bed ridden father easier. Everyone from Susie, Sylvia, Belinda, Alfonso (Physical Therapy), Amanda (Occupational Therapy), RNs, LVNs & CNAs for the most part were compassionate, dutiful, and professional. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet the Speech Therapist, but my father left being able to speak in complete sentences. The kitchen & cleaning staff were respectful and helpful. I did observe a couple of areas that do require some improvements; for 1, a geriatric patient’s visit to the nursing home doctor’s office should not take 2+ hours. My father waited 2+ hrs on his back with his legs bent at a 90 degree angle while positioned in a tilt in space wheelchair on the visit I was made aware of and attended. According to the monitor this was done because of his propensity of leaning forward and falling. The wait for a small town was inexcusable. It took a lot of calming down, 2 bottles of water, chips & a soda from the doctor’s office vending machine to keep my father appeased; barely. I was informed this was not the 1st time he was left waiting to see the nursing medical director at his practice for over 2+ hours. On a separate note, my father required volume, IV fluids on the start of a weekend and the nursing home physician never responded over the weekend and to the date my father was discharged without the physician ever addressing his medical need. From my point of view, a nursing home should have a back up physician, physician’s assistance or Nurse Practitioner because physician should have a weekend off to spend as she or he pleases. Doctors do have families, emergencies and needs like the rest of us; which is why, I firmly believe, he should have a back up. On another note, when a total care patient is dropped off at his residence at discharge, why is the transporter unable to assist in transferring the patient to his or hers placement?"

"I really like the service here because the activities and staff are fun. I have had many good moments here with the staff. This is my second time back to this faciliy because I feel very comfortable here. I have gotten better since I've been here and would recommend others to come"

"My mother and I wanted to thank the physical therapy staff at the Val Verde Nursing and Rehab facility for their care of my mother during her stay. Both Alfonso and Amanda deserve an A+ for their program. We were very pleased. Alfonso took the time to explain each exercise beforehand, then visibly show her before she began her therapy. His teaching method helped my mother progress quickly and helped her retain the instructions. It enabled her to continue execution of the exercises on her own. He was always positive and he provided the encouragement she needed. We felt that he treated her with the same amount of respect and care that he would provide to his own mother or grandmother. "As we enter the Holidays, I can’t help but reminisce on the many memories this facility brings. I particularly admire the staff’s willingness to provide festive activities for residents to enjoy. My father would visit this facility every Christmas and sing to the residents. It became that much more meaningful when my aunt became a resident of this facility. To see her face light up when she heard the music and more so to see her brother singing was absolutely priceless! I am appreciative of the administration and staff for opening their hearts, not only to the residents but to all families! Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas!"

"Our experience with the facility was very satisfactory. The staff assigned to the rehabilitation were caring professionals. Sylvia Ramirez, social worker was very compassionate. The physical therapist, medical staff, dietary, housekeeping and everyone else involved were knowledgeable and courteous. If there were any issues they were addressed and promptly resolved. The transportation from hospital to facility was not as expected, but once settled everything went very smooth. My sister was satisfied with all the staff caring for her while rehabilitating at the facility. Everyone was very helpful and considerate, especially the therapist Alfonso Jimenez and Sylvia Ramirez, social worker. She felt comfortable, safe and received quality care. We would recommend them to others."
