"Overall the lesson plans for the students is EXCELLENT but some of their teachers can't control their students. I remember years ago when they had a misbehave student they would give them 1. written note or call the parent, 2. talk with the teacher, 3. next principle after those steps out the door. They need to continue to keep that policy......NO BULLIES or NO MISBEHAVE STUDENTS! Monday's shirts need to be short sleeves!!!"
"Tonight I was there for orientation the front office is nice. The principle was very professional I admire the school's goals and what they're trying to do in the community. I can't say that it's a for sure yes or no there were things about the school that I observed that I was just not really comfortable with. I have family members that attend other Kipp School's and have had nothing but positive reviews. I'm not fully persuaded that this school would be the best choice for my son."
"I would NEVER NEVER NEVER recommend my kids OUR ANYBODYS CHILDREN to come here. I came for an interview and waited 2 hours before she interviewed me, after I did interview and my lesson to the class, she asked another lady if she has gone to lunch yet and if not she was going to put me in there to fill in. The principal had no intentions in hiring me she only wanted to use me for that day to give lessons. I overheard her telling another teacher that. I would never never never recommend the school to anyone. The principal treat the kids as if it is boot camp."
"I am very skeptical of my son attending this school, I can't do nothing about it as my son's domicile is with his mom and she is moving into the area. She is taking him out of Cyfair School District to attend this school and I am very skeptical of this place. I can't understand to save my life why she would do this but I don't like it and again I am highly appalled/skeptical of him attending this school. I am giving it a one star for now, I know nothing about this public school and will be watching this place like a hawk. I have heard of fights among the students at this place and its due to very little supervision and I don't like that one bit for my son to ever have to endure."
"KIPP Legacy Preparatory School is an excellent school. I happen to work there. I'm not saying KIPP Legacy is a great school just because I work there. Everyone working in this school is here for the kids. We throw our lives aside so we can help students have a better tomorrow. We are dedicated and loves teaching. Yes, at times, the school may seem like a boot camp. But it is to help students gain self control, and able to regulate themselves without adults towering over them, correcting them all the time. We teach our kids to mature and make choices. We teach our kids that they can do the right thing, even when no one is watching. We teach our kids to never give up no matter what they try. We teach our kids to use complete sentences to express their feelings instead of showing it with actions. We teach our kids to show HONOR and be respectful to everyone including peers and adults. We care about our kids and their families. We have constant communication with parents. Phone, email, face to face genuine conversations. You don't find a lot of that else where. Our days are filled with joy and laughter at the same time with learning. Students want to come to school. Yes, we may not be best on time management but this is our 3rd year. We are still a brand new school with three new grade levels. First year, we had Kindergarten. 2nd year, we had 8 Kindergarten and 8 1st grade classes. This year, the 3rd year, we opened up PreK 3, PreK 4, AND 2nd grade! There are a lot of changes and things we need to work on so our school can run smoothly. First impressions are important, but if you are a dedicated teacher, and you agree with the mission and high expectations of our school, you wouldn't mind waiting 4 hours for an interview, or teach multiple times so you can get feedback to improve, even if it was just to fill time. Did you ever wonder, why did you have to wait for 2 hours? Was it because there was a parent that needed to speak to the principal? Was there something going on that prevented the principal from meeting with you RIGHT away? Was there an issue at hand that needed the principal there? Knowing our principal, she is a dedicated educator. She's always looking for talent for our school. She's not the type to leave an interview on the side. She wants to interview teachers so we can have more excellent teachers at our school. You can't judge and talk about our school when you don't know the insides. There's more to what you see from the outside. My feedback to you is, the next time you want to criticize and judge somebody or something else. Step in their shoe and understand where we are coming from. If you spend a whole week in our school and classroom, you will see more to what you said about our school."
