"This school is so bad, my son came home scared to death. Theses gang members keep harassing my son trying to jump him. This school is so ghetto, kids there are mostly in gangs. This is not what I expected, I live in a good area my apartment is worth more than 1,800.00 of rent and for a gun, violent, drug school this is so not worth it. Just to let you guys know till this day my son will not point out the kids that carry wepons and bags of marijuana in there backpacks, he is so scared they might really hurt him. My son is in 8th grade had NEVER been into any fights nor is he a disrespectful kid. I HATE THIS SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! Please parents do not make the mistake of putting your kid into this school you will regret it I promise you."
"My daughter attended all 3 years at Johnston/Meyerland Middle School. We have had a positive experience here. As of most schools, you have your bad teachers mixed in with your good. But some teachers at Johnston do stand out more than others in an exceptional way. The overall 8th grade science department is amazing. The magnet program is worth looking into if your child has dreams of getting into HSPVA. If your kid has basic common sense, doesn't hang out with certain kids, and makes an effort in their academics... everything will be fine."
"This is my daughters first year. And she loves it!!!! The teachers are all very nice but yet Stern!!!! The only complaint I have, is I don't think the office staff know much about the HUB and know to proper response if a parent have questions or problems logging onto the website!!!"
"My 3 years at Johnston were over all great, I attended Johnston with a dual language transfer. The reason I give Johnston 4 stars instead of 5 is because of some of my fellow classmates and some of my teachers. As long as you hang out with the correct people you'll be fine, the magnet program is great even though I was on a transfer I still got the chance to pick electives (that also happened to be magnets). Some people might comment about teachers not teaching but I personally only had one experience with that in 7th grade, other than that all my teachers taught well I learned a lot. Thank you to all my teachers."
"I'm currently a 7th grader here and while the school had great academics and magnet classes, it is not perfect. Not every student is respectful to their peers and staff but for the most part, Johnston is a great school academically and magnet-wise."
