"Love Dave’s Meat Market. This is our go to place for meat. The beef sticks and jerky dip are a wonderful treat. His smoked salmon is a tradition in our house. Highly recommend."
"First time here and best customer service experience ever! Damon was so kind and helpful, we were almost going to have to cancel our dinner but Damon saved the day! We are so grateful for the guys at Dave’s and we will be lifelong customers now."
"Great local meat market!! Competitive prices. Awesome jerky and jerky dip. I suggest you not just drive by stop in!!"
"Let me start off by saying Dave's meat quality has been great and is still great, customer service has been on the decline. I have been going to Dave's for the past 8+ years. I did not have any issues until the past 2-3 years. I always seemed to get an employee who gave me a hard time when I asked to have my filet mignon butterflied. That is not the traditional way to eat it, but that is how my wife likes it. Who cares how I want my meat cut? That happened multiple times throughout the past few years, which drove me over to Kendall Meat. Kendall did question me how I wanted it and gave me the meat how I wanted it. I gave Dave's a try again, and to my surprise that employee is no longer at Dave's. Today I went in looking for 2 8oz filets and a 16-20oz bone in ribeye. For bone in ribeye, all they had out was cowboy cuts, $60+, which I do not want. Seemed like everything would be fine. The older gentleman headed to the back to cut the meat. A few minutes another employee came out and wanted to verify what I wanted. I said a 16-20oz bone in ribeye. He proceeded to tell me that all they have are the cowboy cuts out here. I said those are on the bigger side and I am looking for something smaller. He proceeded to tell me that that he can not cut anymore ribeyes, his boss has been riding him on extra cuts and the cost and meat and that he could not cut another piece. He offered to trim down a cowboy cut but couldn't do what I needed. I told him thank you, but I will pass on that. Another 5-10 minutes went by and the first employee came from the back who was cutting the filets and did not have them. Shortly after the second employee came out with them, whom I discussed the ribeyes with. Dave's does not cut meat and weigh in front of you before it is packaged. They simply hold it in their hand, 2 filets, from behind the counter, and asks if they look fine. Yah they look fine. It is weighed up and packaged. The 8oz filets ended up being 12 oz each.... I am making an assumption here, but any respectable butcher should be able to cut a filet from a loin at an 8oz cut not 4oz over. I am assuming they realized they are missing a sale from the ribeye, so make the filet cuts slight bigger to make up for it. This is not right and the last straw for me. The meat quality is great, but the way they are operating day to day is bad business. I went down the street to Kendall Meat and they had plenty of 6-8oz filets cut and ready, along with several bone in ribeyes, around 16-20oz ready to go. They also stated they would be more than happy to cut any size of any cut that I needed. Needless to say, Kendall Meat has won me over with their consistent customer service. In addition, Kendall's meat prices are slightly lower than Dave's, but the quality is still there."
"***Editing my previous review- Dave called and said they found a box of my meat when cleaning out their freezer- there was at least an additional 20pounds if steaks in it. I really appreciated that they contacted me and made it right. Definitely a much better experience!*** I am so sorry to write a negative review for any business but I did want to provide honest feedback and make sure other hunters don’t have a similar experience. We used to use Millers in Plainfield but since they’ve closed we decided to try Dave’s. I had a doe processed at Dave’s last year into mostly sticks and they were fantastic so I didn’t have any hesitation about bringing my 2 deer (a mature doe and a buck) this year. I had them do everything; steaks, ground, and sticks. Unfortunately the amount of meat I got back wasn’t what I was expecting. In previous years we typically yielded significantly more meat from similarly sized deer. In addition, meat was packaged in straight paper rather than with any type of cellophane or plastic layer and it wasn’t well labeled (usually back straps or loins are called out). I suggest if you’re like us and you like to eat your hard earned venison all year, try another processor. I still love their sticks but am very disappointed after a $500+ bill. Won’t go back next year :("
