"My family and I are from Georgia and they have schools that are not so great. Upon coming to San Antonio and being that Sara King is close to where we reside, my husband and I decided to enroll our children here. The staff was pleasant, helpful, and kind, although at times, they were overworked and I could pretty much tell. But the teachers, especially my 2 of my children's teachers really should have been a bit more concerned about my children's work and could have shown more drive to help my kids whenever they needed help. I understand how overwhelming it is as a teacher, but upon applying for the position, I'm pretty sure you should have known that you would have to be responsible for being the teacher to your students and doing whatever you can to not just pass them to the next grade, but to really help them if and when they show signs of struggling. I'm not the one to name names, but they are the Kindergarten and 5th grade teachers. My husband and I are going to give it another shot, just because they'll have different teachers going to the 1st and 4th grade. We're even willing to sit down with the school principal and school counselors to let them know how important it is for our boys to get a good education and not just be ignored. There have been some instances to where our boys were treated unfairly by their peers for no reason and we got tired of the constant phone calls. It's not the children's fault, it's how the parents choose to raise their children at the end of the day and what the children are learning at home. We're gonna give this school another try for the first semester, being that this is their first time in a new state and school, but if this keeps happening to where we're still displeased, we're gonna have to consider the decision of letting them go to school elsewhere. It was even crazy to the point where my daughter was being bullied by other girls! Again, it's what they're learning and not learning at home. Thank goodness she's going to middle school this year! No school is perfect, but this school has the potential to become perfect if the school (staff) and the parents/community can work together to really get involved! It's time to get involved!"
