"Any high school is going to have fights, truancy, and troubled kids so you can't use that to try to complain about Sam. Sam Houston has many wonderful teachers that have made a real difference. I could make more working out in the business world but I'm here for these kids because I love them and want to see them have a great future. We have a wonderful principal who genuinely cares about the school. The school is getting construction upgrades and it's a great place to work. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because my health insurance is $1200 per month and my pay is terrible. I am driving an 11 year old car with 180,000 miles on it and can't afford a new one. Please pay teachers more fairly."
"This school is located in a area of high delinquency. Kids are in gang's. Teachers don't care to teach. Kids are able to get out of school at any time and go home with aschool pass without notifying the parent's. Kids skip school and the school dose not notify the parent's of kids absence. The school staff and security stand by until a fight has actually started in order to interfeer. I got a paper for free transfer for my child because of most of the school kids failing last year. This is her first year."
"You people know nothing about Sam. My entire life I have never had better grades. You people only know what the bad things are about this school. People here are easily influenced by others. Me on the other hand, it just made me think differently and that that's not how I want to be. So Sam has taught me the lesson of life without even noticing it, and in the end even though I've been exposed to some things I'll never end up actually do it. The teachers at this school has trained my brain to the extinct of above and beyond the small town I now call home. If your children are easily influenced and you want to let them go to school I suggest you shouldn't because there are so many things they'll be exposed to and want to start doing."
"going here for 4 years in not a bad experience. The teachers are nice and helpful if you pay attention and work in class. the students are nice if you have common sense. there have been fights around campus but they are easily dealt with, and in my opinion its best to just walk away from the commotion. The councilors are nice and the will help you as best they can, just always ask more than one councilor for information as some councilors can forget important information. The APs are nice and will help if you need it just always keep another copy of your abs hours sheets just in case. The library is nice and quiet and has a nice amount of books with tutoring after school everyday albeit Fridays. All in all I love this school. Just wish the were more leeway with being on campus after school. not everyday you can just hang out with friends when at home you have no rides and they live hours away."
"My oldest daughter attended SHHS and never has been in trouble! Never even been in the principles office! But because someone said she did something and didn't have proof the sent her to TP an kicked her out of the school on some he said she said information! A ticket couldn't even be given because they didn't have any evidence on this claim but my child is still be disciplined! Principle Dixon has continuously lied to me and I did confront him on his word! He is unprofessional and instead of trying to get facts on this allegation he took the word of a student that didn't even know my child's name! He refused to return my phone calls. I will be taking this to the superintendent of Arlington!"
