"Dr. VanDell is amazing. I personally hate getting my annual exam but he always talks to me, fields questions I may have and before I know it, exam is over."
"Dr. Van Dell is the absolute best! After trying multiple other OB’s in my area I decided to return to his office which is 45 min away. He truly cares about his patients and takes the time to listen to your concerns. Highly recommend!"
"Please, please watch out for this place. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant with my first and switched to a midwife at 28 weeks because of these concerning reasons: - I received lab results through the app early on in my pregnancy that stated my baby had Down Syndrome. Only to be told at my next visit by Dr. Van Dell it was, “the lab’s mistake since they accidentally put the wrong metric system when measuring the thickness of the neck”… No, it’s YOUR practice, Dr. Van Dell, so it’s YOUR mistake. - Then, in my second trimester, Dr. Van Dell emphasized my weight gain was concerning and I should watch my diet, leaving me full of anxiety and concern. Only to be told by Dr Saly Thomas at my next appointment (Dr. Van Dell was out of town) that the baby just hit a growth spurt, and that there was nothing to worry about. Yeah, my husband and I were scratching our heads at this point. I tried my best to give Dr. Van Dell and his team the benefit of the doubt. However, the last straw for me was when I was wrongfully diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 27 weeks pregnant through the at-home finger poke test. (Since I was not going to subject my body and baby to the harmful chemicals that are in the drink the doctor gives you. You know, the “professional” there to keep you and your baby safe.) So, I came in for an appointment a week later to receive my results from the finger poke test and Dr. Van Dell immediately diagnosed me as a “high risk” gestational diabetic. He then proceeded to tell me all the risks I and my baby could be subjected to if I didn’t change my diet asap and have a hospital birth. Also, that I needed to come in every week for sonograms (which the office makes money from), and check-in appointments (which cost me around $150 per visit). Needless to say, I was devastated and full of fear. Plus, I was so confused! Until then, I had a totally normal and healthy pregnancy. Dr. Van Dell called me his “boring patient”, so you can understand why I was VERY skeptical of this diagnosis. So, I sought another opinion from a trusted medical professional aka my AMAZING midwife. She went through informed consent with me before giving me the Fresh Test, the healthy drink alternative for the glucose test, drew my blood, and, lo and behold, I DON’T have gestational diabetes. Also, when she received my medical charts, Dr. Van Dell made notes about how my labs leading up to the gestational diabetes diagnosis pointed to GD because of the “many, many, many” abnormalities in my numbers… Even though my numbers were and are just fine?? Numbers don’t lie, Dr. Van Dell. It scares me to think how many women he and other medical industry “professionals” scare into submission through a false diagnosis, or even multiple, in order to do unnecessary office and sonogram visits, AND a hospital birth (where chances are high he would’ve used GD as an excuse to induce me early and pressure me into a c-section). No wonder Dr. Van Dell can afford a private plane… At Dr Van Dell’s office there was no informed consent or education. It’s so heartbreaking because pregnant women don’t deserve this kind of care. If you’re pregnant, PLEASE do your research and advocate for yourself, and for your baby, so you can know what to ask/look for when deciding on a safe provider. Also, when something doesn’t feel right - RUN."
"I’m not sure how to express how much Dr. Van Dell and his staff means to me and my family. Dr Van Dell delivered two of my children. He is the most caring, attentive and personable Dr. I have ever had. My last pregnancy was a difficult one and he was with me every step of the way. His staff has gone above and beyond to provide wonderful care. After my last baby was born he had to go to the NICU. Later that night when I was allowed to see him I found Dr. Van Dell in the NICU checking on my baby. Meant so much to me that he took the extra time. He is an amazing doctor and I would recommend anyone to his practice!"
"I absolutely love Dr Van Dell. He and his staff (especially Molly) are so incredibly kind. We have male factor infertility and went through IVF with 3 miscarriages. We shockingly got pregnant on our own after the last miscarriage. I was terrified and wanted to be seen asap due to our history of loss. I called around and had never been here but was recommended to him. He heard me on the phone and squeezed me in ASAP. He saw me as often as I needed and I felt truly heard and in control of my care. Unfortunately we miscarried our daughter due to abnormal chromosomes. He got me in for surgery asap. He has been through multiple miscarriages so he totally gets it. He has put my mental health first. Recently he did a hysteroscopy with myosure as I had polyps. The recovery was amazing and I didn’t even need pain medication afterwards. Dr Van Dell is the funniest most personable doctor I have ever seen.He isn’t one of the doctors who doesn’t listen. He listens and lets you be a part of the plan instead of having the high and mighty attitude most doctors have. I truly love coming to see him and hope we get pregnant soon so he can take care of me. His staff is also super great about my triggers in the office of seeing pregnant women. They get me back in a room pretty quick especially if I notify them that I’m struggling. You’d be crazy to not pick Van Dell as your OBGYN. He’s the absolute best!"
