Reviews
"All the one star reviews are very accurate. If you want a ghetto principal with no class and a disrespectful attitude to the parents. You found the right school. Most of the teachers act like self righteous gift to man, and have no respect for parents. They will throw attitude and disrespect and just a whole bunch of no class towards the parents. Oh and harassment. Get ready for it. Why the school district hasn’t fired most of these people is beyond me. As far as learning. They move so quickly to get through everything they really don’t care if your student falls behind, as long as they are getting through to their next lesson. And if you ask for help for the teachers to actually teach your student, you know what their job is, they will tell you to hire a tutor. Just a disgrace to the public school system."
"I chose to just copy and paste several parts of a previously posted review because it described my feelings to a T..."I cannot express how absolutely terrible the principal and teachers are. They think that all parents should be stay at home parents who don't have jobs. They've been known to call me at work many times during one day for very PETTY reasons that could have easily been handled by the school if there were any responsible adults working at the school. After talking to other parents and surrounding residents of Irving it seems that African American, Hispanic and Indian students are singled out and seem to be constantly in trouble for very petty reasons. The school seems to be good as far as education is concerned, but it is seriously lacking mature leadership. The principal and teachers have a very childlike mentality. They refuse to step up and be responsible leaders." I could not agree more with this info and these would be my exact words."
"My daughter attended PreK thru 5th grade, and I must admit through many staff changes and lack of maturity from MOST of the staff, it has been a roller coaster. My child wasn't in any trouble but my frustrations came from dealing with teachers who were very young and handled lots of situations very carelessly and unprofessionally. This school reminds me of purchasing a lemon. It seems great until you start driving. Considering the neighborhood and caliber the school holds, it would do them justice to get some tenure among the staff. Having that tenure will hopefully create some stableness and unity among the organization as well as some accountability. Defiantly check out other areas and schools before making a final decision on this one. I wish I had."
"LCE is an excellent school with teachers and staff that care about the students. My child enjoys this school very much. We briefly tried a charter school for one semester but decided that the education and parent involvement was far better at LCE. They have a good after school program as well and some extra options such as cooking class, Lego class, and Mad Science. The school relies on parental involvement and PTA fundraising as its ratio of "free/reduced lunch" students is lower than other schools and thus it receives less governmental funding. I work full time so I help when I can. And there's options to help from home with cutting projects, etc. The current school building is older and in need of repair so the city is building a brand new LCE on the same parcel that should be ready for use in the Fall of 2014. I have been in LC since '95 and I love this area. It is centrally located within DFW and close to lots of amenities. LCE is within CFBISD."
"I cannot express how absolutely terrible the principal and teachers are. They think that all parents should be stay at home parents who don't have jobs. They've been known to call me at work many times during one day for very petty reasons that could have easily been handled by the school if there were any responsible adults working at the school. One teacher made racist comments about an African American child to me at a parent/teacher conference. I guess the teacher thought it would not offend me since I am not African American, but I find it unacceptable. After talking to other parents it seems that African American, Hispanic and Indian students are singled out and seem to be constantly in trouble for very petty reasons. The PTA has students bring home a new fund raiser on an almost weekly basis. I'll support fund raisers, but I'm not going to have my child be a salesman to family & friends on a weekly basis. The school is good as far as education is concerned, but it is seriously lacking mature leadership. The principal and teachers have a very childlike mentality. They refuse to step up and be responsible leaders."
