About the Business
Fort Bliss National Cemetery, located at 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue in El Paso, Texas, is a historic and water-wise National Cemetery spread across 83 acres adjacent to Fort Bliss Army Post. This cemetery offers burial space for casketed and cremated remains of veterans, their spouses, widows, widowers, dependent children, and under certain conditions, unmarried adult children with disabilities. Members of the reserve components of the armed forces who die while on active duty or training duty may also be eligible for burial here.
The cemetery features a main flagpole, stately grave markers, and a rostrum, all framed by the majestic Franklin Mountains to the West. Visitors can access an Information Kiosk that provides names and grave locations of veterans buried at the cemetery. The cemetery staff actively ensures that all gravesites and headstones comply with National Cemetery Administration policies and guidelines.
Authorized items for gravesites include fresh-cut and artificial flowers, U.S. and military branch service flags in plastic vases provided by the cemetery. Potted plants are permitted around Easter and wreaths and floral blankets are allowed in December and January. However, items must be removed by specific dates to facilitate regular flower pick-ups.
To maintain the dignity of the cemetery, no items may be attached or glued to headstones, markers, or niche covers. Modifications to headstones or any vandalism is strictly prohibited. The cemetery staff reserves the right to remove items that violate regulations or pose a threat to safety.
Fort Bliss National Cemetery was established between the world wars to accommodate the growing veteran population and depletion of burial space at existing national cemeteries. It is a significant part of the Fort Bliss Military Reservation history, honoring the memory of those who have served their country.

"Alway’s so nice to come visit my Dad and grandparents who are buried here. I love the mountain views…very relaxing. Thank you too everyone for their service who is buried here."
"Laid reefs today at the cemetery. It was packed with volunteers. Not to cold either, had a blast and saw lots of smiles."
"Came for Wreaths Across America and was severely disappointed with the state of the cemetery. Piles of leaves everywhere as if it hasn’t been maintained in weeks and weeds in front of the headstones.Cemetery director did not care when concerns were addressed. What used to be a solemn site is falling in disrepair under Director Francisco Gonzales. Edit: Staff is just as careless, running over Wreaths with vehicles. No respect at all."
"Service held for veteran mother in law here. Excellent, tug at your heartstrings service with color guard and chaplain."
"I wish to thank every single one of the cemetery staff. Every one of them were exceptionally kind, caring, polite, professional, helpful. My father passed away 49 years ago, now I had to place my mother with him in January 2023. The entire staff went above and beyond my expectations. I was informed of every step before any process started, which made my visit a lot easier than expected. I witnessed the burial from a safe distance and I was very impressed. You have the most amazing cemetery staff. Thank you a million times for making this very sad part of my life easier to deal with."
