"Nice environment, ambient lighting, clean, friendly waiter from Rome Italy. Owner also from Italy. Came out to the tables and chatted with guests, very essential. Portions 15% shy of being perfect sized portions. Meaning, a few more raviolis please! Some of the menus had food stains on them; nerd to do better here for a high end restaurant. Great food!"
"Italian food? Not sure what's Italian in this place besides the menu written in Italian and English. Had the breaded chicken breast in lemon sauce with mashed potatoes and spinach. The mashed potatoes were "sticky" and did not resemble anything close to mashed potatoes. The chicken breast came covered with sauce, it was over cooked and overwhelmed by the lemon gravy. What do people see in this place? Service is mediocre at best, the food was terrible. Unbelievable!!! Give me a break! The dining room is nice, that's about it."
"One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Very good food, fantastic service and sophisticated decor. I like it because it’s fine dining quality but a more relaxed and accessible environment for a week night meal. Great vegetarian options"
"We dined at Tocco last night in Wilmette for the first time. We used to go to Tocco all the time when Bruno had his Fulton Market location. We used go about once every two-weeks. It's nice to see him continue on. The atmosphere of the restaurant and their outdoor dining area was really nice. It was a beautiful evening and perfect for outdoor dining. The restaurant itself is very pretty. Modern, yet warm and welcoming, but obviously, we chose to sit outside. The service was good. They were very busy, but our server and her staff were pretty much on point. The food was pretty delicious. We had the Prosciutto/Buratta focaccia and the Braseola for our appetizer course. The focaccia was wonderful. In the middle, I had the salad of fennel and almonds in a lemon vinaigrette, which was amazing. The mains were also good, I had the carbonara with their homemade papardelle pasta. My wife and one of our friends had the Papardelle with sausage. Our other friend has the Branzino. All the mais were delicious. I guess my biggest problem with Tocco were the prices. The wine and cocktail list is extremely expensive for what they were serving. $18 dollars for a negroni, especially when they aren't using a good vermouth is kind of rediculous. We paid $120/bottle for a nice white, but was not worth the cost. The rest of their list was nice but very expensive for anything interesting. The food is also expensive for what you get. In my opinion, I think they are trying to charge Cipriani prices for nowhere near the quality and service of the aforementioned restaurant. I will probably be back because of the location and the atmosphere is wonderful sitting outside."
"Petite and chic Italian dining, with cool vibe and nice ambiance. Hip bar, intimate seating in open room with plenty of windows. Great pasta, so good we forgot to take a photo! We had a ravioli ‘like” homemade pasta with a spinach cheese filling in a light red sauce, tasty and lovely. We shared that entree, the fennel salad and tuna tartar appetizer which were both excellent. The bread needed to get up to speed with the food. Dessert was a very small scoop of coffee gelato while good, tiny! Excellent service and the owner who is from Italy works the room greeting guests. We arrived early so we could have a conversation but the open room is loud as the tables steadily filled. Make a reservation and plan on spending $$$$$$$. Prices were high, we each had two glasses of wine and shared the dinner for a cost, with tip, of about $100 per person. Special occasion dining, lovely surroundings, excellent waitstaff."
