"Love this place. Grt food and service. A little bit pricy than I'm accustomed to for the type of food. Nonetheless, it is still value to me. My server knows me and always greets me with great enthusiasm."
"I'm so incredibly disappointed in this place. The only reason I'm not giving it 1 star is because of how much I loved this restaurant in the past and wouldn't want to give a one star review for a bad day (a really bad day at that). I ordered the side of shrimp wonton with oyster sauce, the 554, and my friend had the shrimp wonton soup with roasted duck. For some reason, the shrimp wonton (which I've had in the past and have always liked) had lots of small bones in them. The 554 is a dish I used to get a lot from Seven Treasures; and even though they claim to use the same recipe, this tasted nothing like it. Pork was dry, rice had a hard texture, and the eggs were fully cooked through (no runny yolk in sight). My friend said the soup was okay but barely any duck meat - lots of bones. I feel bad since I hyped this place up so much to my friend to begin with. Especially since they have the recipe to the 554... I hope they do better."
"I ordered takeout using Ubereats. I arrived and the rude older gray haired Asian woman was eating and touching the food. I gave her my name, number and said it was ordered through UberEats. She yells saying there’s no order and to show her my phone. The younger nice lady, found my order. I get back to work, order is wrong. Chicken is mostly scraps no actual meat, white rice is hard and steamed potstickers are tough."
"Overall Thoughts: The “sister restaurant” of the recently closed 7 Treasures restaurant in Chicago Chinatown, Wonton Gourmet serves up dishes reminiscent of 7 Treasures such as their signature 554 dish and wonton noodle soup. Unfortunately, they don’t have the classic 7 Treasures meat combo dish with crispy pork belly, which was among my favorite things to order there. The prices are also higher than 7 Treasures, though still very reasonable. The service is quick and friendly, and the interior is spacious and nicely decorated. Located next to the 606 bus stop (which departs out of the Rosemont blue line stop), it’s convenient to visit even if you’re coming here without a car from the city. Food I tried: - Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup with Chinese Broccoli (+$2.75) (4.5/5): The wontons are delicious and taste exactly as they did at 7 Treasures. They’re flavorful with thin skin and umami soup, and the noodles soaked up the flavor of the soup quite well. — Price (relative to peers): 4.4/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.8/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5"
"I had their Cantonese Fried Shrimp as an appetizer. It was delivered in six pieces. I'm pleased it was made fresh because it was hot when it got at my table. The fried shrimp has a distinct form that resembles a donut. The batter is a lovely golden hue, and the texture is crunchy. It's unfortunate that the shrimp is hidden beneath a thick layer of batter. The fried shrimp was lackluster on its own, but it was served with sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard for flavor. I got their noodle soup with shrimp wonton and roast duck for my entree. The portion was fairly large. I wished it had been served in a ceramic bowl to retain the heat because the soup was warm. The chicken broth has a deep flavor. The chicken broth has a fantastic depth of flavor, and every sip satisfies my palate. The roast duck has a gamey undertone, and the meat is on the tough side. There are two or three chunks that have a significant amount of meat and the rest are merely bone. I'm impressed with the egg noodle; no matter how long it's submerged in the soup, it retains its solid texture. In my perspective, the shrimp wonton was more satisfying than the roast duck. The wonton exterior was delicate, and the inside was aromatic. The service was quite fast; I never expected to receive an appetizer and my meal at the same time. Customer service, on the other hand, is inadequate. I felt rushed at first, and once the meal was served, the server didn't bother to check on me. This is a good spot for good food at a reasonable price, in my opinion."
