After The Fox - McHenry Illinois

"Was there on 2/3/2024 for lunch with my daughter. Ordered the beef liver with bacon/onions and tater tots. The liver was terrible, simply terrible. Dry and very over cooked. Two scraggly pieces of bacon thrown in with the meat, not cooked with the meat. The tater tots were just stupid, NO seasoning at all. The "roasted" veggies were just soggy and cold when they got to my table. Funny thing, menu items for kids, but they don't serve milk. I did not send back my order; I ate what I could, paid and left. Did tell the waitress it was bad. If you own/operate a restaurant and don't know your food is bad, open a laundry. Nope, never again.........."

"Our 1st there was this last week 1/20/24. There were 5 of us. With the prices they charge, you would think that their food would be quality. We were sadly disappointed. I had the steak and shrimp combo and market priced (36$). The streak was not seasoned. Very blan. The mashed potatoes had nice flavor. My uncle had a pastrami sandwich, looked decent, and had plenty of meat on the sandwich. My wife had a burger. Looked good, she said it was ok. The highlight of the meal was the lavender hot tea. Both my daughter and wife said it was great. Overall it was about 120 bucks for par food. We got to try a new place, but most likely wont be back."

"Started with Fried Calamari Steaks (like strips) and the Potstickers. Equally delicious. Main course, our table was split between Monday Specials: Steak and Lobster with Dill Potatoes and Wolf Fish in Creamy Garlic Sauce with Veg Medley. Both meals were amazing. Words don't accurately describe how good the food was tonight. And decent portion sizes. Sorry forgot to take pics, too eager to start eating. Service was great, very attentive, and super friendly. Convenient parking. Our first time here while visiting family and we'll def go back again."

"I was going through some old photos with my friend Pearl and found one of After the Fox. In true Pearl fashion, she wrote on the back that she ate here, but that they had no pickles. Pearl passed away in August with no family left behind, so I decided she would appreciate her memorial being held at After the Fox, the place where she once had a good day in 1994. The owner (or manager?) Shawn was patient at working out a day and time, and gave us a room off to the side for us to gather. It was the perfect space — not isolated, and yet intimate. The small memorial went over wonderfully. We had space to mingle, the service was attentive and understanding of our individual check needs, and the menu had a really nice variety. I ordered a burger, and yes Pearl, there were pickles. I will definitely be coming back to check out the rest of the menu, but I also love that it seems like an inviting place to grab a drink and meet up with friends."

"We came here on a whim and passing through looking for some dinner. I really liked this place. The inside was dim which I liked. It was my style and I liked being able to look outside the windows at the lake in the back. The waitress was amazing and attentive and nice. The food was sooooo good. I definitely recommend the place if you’re looking for some food!"
