"My experience living here so far has not been the greatest, there are homeless people constantly in the trash/ loitering around the complex and my car. The entrance to back parking lot looks awful and there is always litter and trash scattered everywhere. The apartment buildings themselves need some cosmetic work, my front door for example looks like it hasn’t been painted in 10 years. The inside of the apartment is fine, minus a few minor details. Oh yeah and noisy neighbors. If you’re looking for a clean, well kept, and peaceful complex, Townhollow is not for you."
"Best location for the price and Celeste, Abbie, and the maintenance crew keep the place running and in great condition. We've never had to wait long for any issues and the management team are fast responders!! Have lived here for several years and it's a friendly community. We did have a neighbor that was removed from the property for disturbing the peace, he's been removed from the property and there was a homeless encampment at the end of our street but they've migrated or moved. We've had no problems for the past couple months."
"Celeste, the property manager with The Property Society, is the reason I'm leaving a five-start rating, because I've had nothing but good experiences communicating with her. She always responds to my emails and phone calls in a timely manner and is always open and honest and takes the time to discuss thoroughly any questions or concerns I've had. Celeste always lets me know what efforts she is making to address various issues that arise, and it's clear that she cares, and she communicates transparently about what can and cannot be done. She definitely sympathizes with us residents regarding any challenges that pop up, and she is doing her very best to address them, in my opinion. Celeste keeps tenants apprised and informed through emails, and always responds to complaints and questions in a courteous and helpful way. With any property, there are certain limitations and challenges that must be worked with, and Celeste, it is clear to me, is doing her absolute best to help us residents as much as she can. Carlos the maintenance tech is also terrific. He identified the source of a leak from a unit above mine at lightning-fast speed after I informed him of it and got it fixed. He's always friendly and helpful. Another resident told me her a/c went out this past summer and they responded really quickly to fix it. My air conditioner didn't go out once this past blazing-hot summer of 2023 (thank goodness!) but last summer it did and Carlos responded immediately to fix it and I was super grateful. I've lived at Townhollow since the fall of 2007. It was managed at that time by Campus & Central Properties (who were absentee landlords), and then by Austin City Living, and then by Arbor Properties, and then by Roscoe Properties, so I've seen a number of property managers come and go, and Celeste has been with us for a while now is definitely among the very best of them, in my opinion. Responding to the one-star review, below this one ("Do not live here"): 1. I believe the homeless who lived along the creek in back have been removed / relocated. I have spoken with Charles Loosen, who is with Community Engagement / Homeless strategy for City of Austin, and he said they were well aware of this large encampment/population in back and were working on it. He said there are a number of other camps around Austin residences so they have a lot of work to do, but I believe they've recently cleared that camp and are working on removing the trash back there. In any case, I have seen way fewer or no homeless around the property lately. 2. The resident with the mental health issues no longer lives at Townhollow, as of Friday, 11/18/2023. Celeste was very clear with residents about how resolving such issues is not simple and involves a number of steps that must be followed and these take time. She sent residents a couple of emails advising us regarding these steps and what we could do in the meantime. 3. Roaches are taken care of with roach motels you can buy at Target. 4. Yes leaks sometimes happen, as it's an older property (built in the early 1980s, I believe - not sure). Years ago I had the apartment above mine flood into my bathroom but everything was taken care of by property management. All of these above things come with the territory: older apartments, right by a greenbelt, etc., but if you want a very affordable (i.e. relatively cheap!) option for the amazing location, then this is a place to consider. It's got some charm to it and the residents are mostly very cool, from my experience (with a couple of disruptive ones from time to time, but they don't last very long). Where would you rather live in this area? Gibson Flats? Windsor South Lamar? Lamar Union? MAA (formerly known as Post South Lamar)? Those rents are all unaffordably, outrageously high and they have a lot of crummy reviews also (seriously! read them -- it's crazy: You wouldn't think those expensive places would be that crappily managed). I'm sorry about Kaylin's experience - that sucks - but I know I've always been treated respectfully."
"Do not live here! 1. There is a large homeless encampment behind the apartment building. There were multiple apartment and car break-ins, people using the pool to bathe and wash their belongings, people going through the dumpsters and people using the Townhollow facilities including the washing machines. There were multiple times I would wake up at 4 AM to people who were not residents screaming and fighting in the apartment courtyard and would have to call the police. There was one attempted break-in that resulted in the girl living there having to move that really scared me. I called the front office and asked Celeste, the property manager, what Townhollow could do to make the property safer. She denied there had ever been an attempted break-in (even though I had information from multiple residents it had happened) and said it was not Townhollow's responsibility to protect their residents. She said I was welcome to confront people I saw on the property that did not live there and she would not "risk her life" to confront them. I asked if they could invest in cameras and she said that would be big of a liability for the apartment. 2. I had a cockroach infestation in my apartment, an AC unit above my bed drained water incorrectly causing a huge water bubble to burst in my bedroom, my AC unit went out in the heat of the summer and instead of replacing it they installed a window unit. The maintenance workers were always super helpful and nice, but Celeste and the front desk attendants were always abrasive about work orders and getting help. 3. A man in the apartment below me started to have a mental health crisis, this lasted for 3 months and is still happening now. He would stand on his balcony and yell for hours during the day and he started to yell some scary and concerning things. When I would talk to the office, they would tell me to call the police and were not helpful at all with the residents feeling unsafe or helping him get professional help. The only reason the residents knew what was going on was because I created a group message we were able to communicate in. The man was arrested and they found 6 weapons in his apartment. He also threatened he had an explosive device and the apartment had to be evacuated. There was absolutely no communication from the office or apartment when this was happening. When I called the company that owns Townhollow, they were not aware of this issue and had not been told by the property managers. He is still living there. I ended up not living at this apartment because I felt unsafe and had to pay double rent. I called the office and headquarters multiple times to express I felt unsafe and they said it would cost close to $5000 to get out of my lease. Do not live here, and if you're a girl living alone like I was, definitely do not live here."
"Amazing location; walking distance to Zilker park and tons of neighborhood bars and restaurants. Best of all are the neighbors and small community. Apartment setups are unique and have character, compared to the cookie cutter apartment buildings on Lamar."
