"If you live here there is a very high chance you will get a nail in your car tire, your shoe or your pet’s paw. There is construction going on all over the property and they create a lot of mess. There are people coming in and out of your apartment with equipment and they will NEVER give you a specific time schedule when. It’s a legitimate question if the many contractors working on the buildings, coming into your apartment, are legally authorized to work in this country much less identity verified. On top of it all, in the leasing office you’ll be greeted with sass and condescension. It’s a good price for the neighborhood but you’re gonna end up wanting to move. There’s a reason it’s cheap."
"I lived at The Platform Apartments for a year and wanted to drop my two cents for anyone thinking about moving here. Pros: - Location: It's the perfect middle ground - close enough to downtown and the East Austin hub to enjoy all the perks, but far enough to keep the bar and people noise at bay. Just the train to keep you on your toes. - Amenities: If you love swimming, you’re in luck - lots of pools to dive into. The gym’s decent for staying in shape, and there’s a spacious area for when you need to get some work done outside your apartment. - Maintenance: Whenever something needed fixing, the maintenance crew was on it fast, which was super reassuring. - Office Staff Rocks: The folks running the show were always friendly and helpful, making all the admin stuff a breeze. Cons: - Hello, Train: Wasn’t exactly thrilled to discover there’s a train line right outside. Ended up relying on sleep sounds to drown it out at night. - Construction Noise: Had some construction noise from across the street to contend with too, but that’s probably history now. - Deposit Drama: When I moved out, they held onto my entire deposit and then some. Claimed I left the place a mess, which was news to me. Had to go through the hassle of disputing their claims with photos proving they had the wrong apartment. Eventually got the extra charges dropped, but waving goodbye to my deposit was a bummer, especially since the apartment was spotless. This was more about the property company than the day-to-day staff, just FYI. ** Make sure to document everything when you move in and out to avoid any deposit disputes. **"
"DO NOT LIVE HERE! We moved to Platform in early January of 2024 and our unit flooded 3 DAYS after we moved in (building 6) - water was POURING in from the ceiling, walls, and front door. The front office staff was not helpful and didn’t give us any information on how to proceed - we had to go to the office to learn anything whatsoever and got contradictory information on move out dates, the safety of our unit, and getting money back from each member of the leasing staff. They also won’t give us our money back for the week we had to spend in the flooded disgusting smelly unit (half was completely unusable) - plus we had to pay for all of the electricity for the NUMEROUS VERY loud fans needed the entire week and had construction people constantly coming in and out of the unit the whole week which made working almost impossible. This was absolutely traumatizing and by far the worst week of my life. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! **if you’re reading this comment, a manager from platform never reached out. They just added that comment below to save face."
"Endless construction has now expanded into my building due to the cheap construction causing water pipes to burst during a very mild freeze. The gym has been closed for 6 weeks and it’s obvious it won’t be completed by the stated completion date, January 31, which was a complete lie. I was told right before signing the lease there would be no construction on building 6. Tenants on the first floor were forced to move after being inundated with water. This place is led by incompetent people and was built by idiot contractors on the lowest budget possible. My car was towed in the first week by mistake because of further incompetence. They neglected to update their documents with my car’s information. Luckily they reimbursed me for the bill and loss of work. Live somewhere else."
"There have been many issues at the Platform recently (see attached photos). The clubhouse area used to be open 7 days a week, but is now closed on Sundays and Mondays and shortened hours on the other days. Yet, no decrease in rent. The crime is also a problem. My car has been broken into twice. Multiple residents have had their cars stolen or broken into. There is limited security; I can't remember the last time I saw them. I used to love living here and this place can be wonderful. But these are serious problems."
