"Our unit itself is the reason we chose to renew our lease at Aldrich 51. The apartments are better than anything else you will get for this price, especially in the Mueller area. We love the location. Edit 2/17/24: THE FIRE ALARMS GO OFF FREQUENTLY AT ALL HOURS, especially on weekends when many of the people who live here are trying to catch some rare shut eye. This has happened two weeks in a row now, and it's a big disturbance- it stays on for up to 20 minutes before someone switches it off. There are some small cockroaches, but that is really unavoidable in Austin. We aren't infested by any means. The two biggest downsides to living here are the horrendous management and lack of any decent amenities. The pool was closed for the hottest month of the summer, is currently a murky neon green color, the hallways smell atrocious, the gym has (literally) one piece of equipment besides treadmills, and the courtyard is trashed. Unattended kids regularly leave their toys all over the place, and there is broken glass on the ground that hasn't been cleaned up in weeks, which that is a hazard to pets (courtyard glass photos below). Packages regularly get stolen. The garage gate is broken and has to get fixed every single morning. The ceilings are also very thin, so it sounds like a bowling alley above us. Some bleed is expected in an apartment of course, but when it's enough that it can be heard to people on the other end of Zoom calls, that's really not ideal. There is also some sort of plumbing issue going on- our toilet frequently bubbles laundry detergent when the people above us do their laundry. Our sink randomly shuts off, the pipes rattle loudly in the bathroom shower, and our maintenance request was not responded to. If you ever have a question regarding your lease, renewal, pets, etc., it takes about ten tries of talking to different people at the front desk to get a correct answer- if you can get one at all. We got recertification packets from multiple people at the front desk, kept filling them out, and are still getting emails that we need to complete our recertification paperwork. We were given zero notice on the rent rate increases, and didn't get a lease to resign until after it actually began. It takes weeks to get a response to an email. It took several weeks for a rent assistance check to be deposited, which resulted in my partner having to pay late fees that they did not waive. Overall, if you can tolerate the management, lack of clarity around everything, and are okay without amenities, this place is worth it for the price and location."
"don’t live here . people break into cars. there’s a alarm that goes off for over 30mins for no reason and it’s so loud it’ll wake u and your babies up from your sleep."
"Garage gate has been broken for many, many months. Cars have been stolen & broken into. Fighting happening in the premises. People smoking weed. Cockroaches. These are just some of the problems at this place. To make matters worse, management has no answers to solving any problems. They are rude."
"I moved here when they first opened Nov 2017 . I was the only person on my floor that’s how new they were. Sooo, when I tell you I’ve seen it all so pleaseeeee do not rent here. The price is NOT WORTH IT. You will be disappointed and scared for your safety. The move in was sketchy with little to no information. They were using people from wild flower terrace to help with move ins and they knew nothing. & it took wayyy too long to even get to that point. Although, the move in was not great it was actually the best year I had while living here. When it came time to renew my lease I was told the apartment I was in was temporary and I had to move before I could renew my lease. I was baffled because no one told me anything when signing my lease. So they said they would get a moving company to move me and I better be ready because they could not pay the company to reschedule. Moving day came and the entire office staff showed up to my door with an attitude. I was confused because they told me it was going to be a company NOT the staff. So with that, they moved me and broke a lot of my stuff and did not care at all. The manager was mad because I bought a new washer and dryer and they had to move it. Needless to say, they dented my new washer and dryer really bad. After that the next 5 years were awful. Arguing with my upstairs neighbor because she had absolutely NO home training . & I stand on that still to this day! Going back and forth with the 3 property mangers we had in that time frame. At one point didn’t even have one because DMA companies fired the property manager without notice to her. By the way the told the business like it was nothing. That’s how I knew and I didn’t even ask. Had many emails to the district manager which lied through her teeth. When I called her out on her lies she made sure I couldn’t transfer to a different apartment or one of their sister properties. The last manager tried to do some illegal stuff and I had to get a lawyer . She tried to raise my rent out of retaliation. I tried to transfer apartments and she hung up in my face and put the notice on my door right after that. Now, to the break ins. My car was broken into 6 times!! And they busted my window a few times. My apartment window was busted in 2018 by the landscapers and was never replaced. Lucky it was a double sided window. So they came and scraped one side out and left it that way. They tried to blame me and I had to pull my door bell footage. It was so many times I was harassed in the parking garage by homeless people. Oh and let’s not forget the homeless people that was sleeping under the stairs. There was one guy who refused to leave and pulled a knife out on the maintenance man who is no longer there. The police was there every single day… EVERY SINGLE DAY. I never invited anyone over because I feared for them and their car. Especially after someone got se’ua’ly a’sau’ted in the parking garage. & when someone unali’ed themselves by jumping from the top of the apartments by the office. My apartment was flooded 4 times due to the air conditioner not working properly and everytime they say it’s fix it happened again. I had to call austin tenant council and get a certified letter for them to fix it. The property manager said they were not fixing anything along with the district manager. Which I had to reach out to the regional manager. Which she only got them to fix it because I got my lawyer to help me with a letter to send them. I didn’t have roaches but mold mites which came from all the wetness in my apartment. I had never had such a bad experience in my life. I developed severe depression and anxiety from living in this apartment. I absolutely wish I would’ve sued them for pain and suffering. The price is what kept me here for so long. Which I paid for with the sacrifice of my mental well being. I finally left after 6 stressful years. I had rather paid $1800 for a peaceful life and a good night sleep than to live here another year. The best decision I’ve ever made in my life!!"
"THE LEASING AGENTS ARE RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL I found the property online and thought it looked nice and affordable so I called to schedule a tour and when I arrived at the leasing office, I found three other individuals waiting to be assisted. After waiting for approximately 15 minutes, I decided to call the office to inform them that we were all waiting. Once the staff finally came to the front, they were dismissive and unhelpful. They seemed reluctant to provide any information and were not willing to answer my questions about availability even with a APPOINTMENT! To my surprise, the leasing agent immediately asked about my income in front of multiple people. They rudely said that I would not qualify without even considering that there’s an approval process. After speaking further One of the agents then offered to calculate my income based on my paystub and promised to return shortly. I waited an additional 20 - 30 minutes, and the agent never came back. During this time, a resident passing by warned us not to waste our time due to the community's ongoing cleanliness and pest issues. This interaction, coupled with the dismissiveness of the leasing staff, left me with a very negative impression of the community as a whole and I just decided to leave. Horrible unwelcoming experience 0 stars if I could !"
