"These are slums. They fixed up the outside but the apartment is awful and management won't take responsibility for vandalism and theft caused by their refusal to fix the gate to the complex. Management is rude and dishonest."
"This place is a nightmare. My appliances constantly break, and I have gone as long as 4 days at a time without hot water or with an unusable dishwasher and disposal. The most untenable circumstance is the roach infestation. I know Madera is working on this, and sends an exterminator biweekly. However, even after a full fumigation, the infestation has barely improved. I was told by pest control roaches were likely coming from other apartments in the building. However, in addition to coming out of light fixtures and appliances, they are clearly in the pipes. Management says other tenants do not have roaches, so it must be my fault. You can see from other reviews this is untrue. Admittedly, Madera says they have a problem with safety, including vagrants sleeping outside of our homes and breaking into cars regularly. My car was stolen right from the parking spot outside of my apartment. When I approached the property manager Ruby for video footage to assist in the police investigation, she told me that there was none available. I was told directly that "people are stealing Hyundais and Kias because it is a TikTok trend to remove the steering column and drive the car with a USB." Foxwood says "we are not responsible for your safety or property." They could have taken responsibility for the broken gate that compromises them. I have done absolutely everything within my power to make living here a tolerable situation for over a year with my quality of life declining steadily. When I expressed how unsafe I felt, and how I have been impacted financially as well as in regard to my mental and physical health, I was told there was no possibility of breaking my lease without lasting ramifications."
"IMMATURE MANAGER WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY. I left the unit on 10/26 and contacted Austin Energy to disconnect my bill. They had issues (no surprise there) and didn't actually disconnect until 11/14 (lease ended 10/31). Austin Energy told me that it was no problem, the complex just needed to contact them to take responsibility for the energy use. I reached out to the office to have them do this and have been given the run around over and over again. They told me they talked to Austin Energy and it was taken care of, but according to Austin Energy they talked to someone, but that someone didn't agree to the charges. The energy bill was much higher than I paid normally, meaning they ran up the bill turning over the unit and are making me pay for their bill. The last I heard from them, they accused me of not actually contacting Austin Energy in the first place - I followed up with screenshots of my contact, which was before my lease even ended, and my follow up contacts with AE. They have since ignored this email. Regardless, why in the hell would I have to pay for energy that took place AFTER my lease ended? IT'S SIMPLE - LEASE ENDS, YOU TAKE THE BILL. DO THE RIGHT THING. They have no problem sending me emails about a balance I have over and over again (which I am willing to pay if they pay for their electric use), but refuse to respond to emails from me. The management is petty and holds grudges for the littlest of things. This whole experience has been so frustrating and could be solved by a simple follow through from management, rather than ignoring me and hoping I go away. I guess this is what you get after 3 years of paying rent on time and being a good resident..."
"Good place to live really calm. Staff always friendly and helpful when I need or have questions regarding my rent. Also a good location to be in Austin."
"Place is infested with Roaches they charge you for exterminator every month but when you put a request and they market as they came and they never do...LeLa in the office is Rude to the tenants Just a heads up if you rent from here they do not change the locks out so if the previous tenants still have a key they will have a key to your apartment because they do not change the locks when a new tenant moves in.... Also having two or three families in one apartment. If you need free parking for the night they do not tow at those apartments and if you want to buy a sticker they charge you $30 per vehicle but do not keep up with how many vehicles you have"
