Reviews of MAA West Austin
"We’ve had a mostly good experience with the interior of our apartment and the folks who work in the office are very nice and responsive via email. However, there is dog waste everywhere along the outside of the property and sometimes in the interior hallways and courtyards. A lot of the people who live here are incredibly irresponsible pet owners between not picking up after their dogs and not leashing their dogs. The management is aware of this and has threatened a $500 fine to anyone caught not picking up after their dog but even with that threat in place for months, there is dog waste on every corner. At a certain point the building needs to start more routine cleanings of the area for the safety of the other people and animals in the building. I’m sick of paying over $2200 to step in poop."
"I've been here for two years now and really enjoy the complex. The study rooms, pool, and common areas are spacious and clean for use. They also have a decent-sized gym for getting in a workout when in a pinch. I also appreciate the other amenities like gated parking and in-room washer/dryers which are rarely included around this area at this price-point. The only thing I wish was a little better was consistent cleanup of the stairwells and elevators, which are sometimes dirty. Overall, great place to live!"
"Having lived here for a year until Summer 2023, I fortunately didn't encounter the fire alarm issues reported by other tenants, which was a relief as I worked from home. It happened twice during my stay, but I didn't find it excessive. I also lived on the non-Mopac side and on the upper floors so didn't have pest issues. Here are my honest thoughts on my time at MAA West Austin: **Pros:** - The unit had a nice layout and floor plans. - Enjoyed having a nice balcony. - Convenient bus stop right outside, even though it came only once an hour (not a MA West issue). - Having a washer inside the unit was a definite plus. - Central location was excellent. - The maintenance team was exceptional—kind, quick, and efficient in resolving issues. - Generally, quiet and peaceful neighbors. There was one group towards the end of my stay that threw weekend parties, but it remained relatively tame. **Cons:** - No dedicated parking included unless paying extra, which seemed unreasonable given the prices. - The gates to the parking structure were frequently broken, compromising the security of the garage and the units. - Package theft was extremely common, and even our wreath at the door was stolen. - The hallways had a creepy, asylum-like vibe—depressing walls and lighting that resembled prison scenes in movies. - The intercom system was subpar, appearing as a random number on the phone, occasionally getting filtered as spam. A traditional one would have been best, or it’s a dedicated # u can save on phone so it’s the same # everytime. - Getting food delivered was exhausting. No one could figure out how to call the unit. Some of the words have faded and most food-delivery deliverers couldn’t figure out how to use it. - The garbage chute was inconveniently far away, causing issues for both tenants having to trek to dispose of trash and those living nearby dealing with increased foot traffic and odors. More disposal points around the complex would have been beneficial. - Doorknob and dishwasher breakdowns occurred every few weeks. - Courtyards were consistently dirty and unusable, lacking proper maintenance. - No play area for the kids (not that there were many people with kids here, but a playscape would have been nice). There's a park not too far away thankfully. - When moving in, you have to use the back which has bigger doors but still have some stairs. This should be a ramp. Overall, i made some good memories here. But yes, there were a lot of downsides. If you're thinking about moving in, it's a good idea to think about what matters most to you. Take a moment to consider the upsides and downsides mentioned here and see how they align with what you're looking for in a place to live. It might help you make a decision that feels right for you."
"About as good a deal as you'll find in central Austin these days. My wife and I lived at Post West for 4 years, and the staff on property was always great-from the early days of Rolando and Bryan to now Shanna, Stephanie, Frances and team, they're a great bunch. The maintenance staff is truly AWESOME too. Alfonso/Jimmy are always super reliable, quick to respond, and friendly. Highly recommend this place at the current price!"
"I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND LIVING HERE My stay at post west Austin was nothing short of a disaster. Throughout my tenancy, I encountered a series of problems that severely impacted my quality of life and left me feeling incredibly frustrated and violated. To begin with, the persistent presence of cockroaches in my apartment was absolutely appalling. Despite my numerous complaints and requests for proper pest control, the issue was never adequately addressed. Living in constant fear of encountering these pests was not only distressing but also raised serious doubts about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the complex. In addition to the pest problem, my car was broken into on the premises. This incident was a clear indication of a lack of security measures in place to protect tenants' personal property. Feeling unsafe in my own apartment complex was a distressing experience that should never be tolerated. Maintenance was yet another area where post west failed to meet even the most basic standards of competence. Frequent toilet leaks and multiple dishwasher replacements disrupted my daily life and caused unnecessary inconvenience. Despite numerous reports and requests for proper repairs, the maintenance team's inability to resolve these recurring issues was fascinating. Adding insult to injury, I was shocked to receive a hefty bill of over $600 in cleaning fees upon my move-out. These charges included the replacement of the carpet, for which there was no evidence indicating that I was responsible, or the three year old carpet was in good condition prior to my move in. The management's decision to replace the carpet and then pass on the expenses to me was entirely unjust. Furthermore, the claim that there were stains beneath the carpet that I should have marked upon move-in is absurd and lacks any reasonable basis. To top it all off, I also experienced multiple instances of stolen packages during my time at Post West. Despite delivery services providing confirmation of delivery, I found myself repeatedly missing packages that had been stolen from the complex. This blatant disregard for the security and well-being of tenants' personal belongings was deeply unsettling. In conclusion, my experience at Post West was riddled with issues that were never adequately addressed or resolved. From pest infestations to security breaches, inadequate maintenance, and unjust charges, this complex has left me with a lasting sense of disappointment and frustration. I strongly advise potential tenants to exercise caution when considering this apartment complex, as the management's lack of accountability and disregard for tenant satisfaction is evident."
