Callista Hill Country Apartments

"Entrance very narrow and dark, apartments are nice however. Parking seems kind of limited but the location is good. Clean sidewalks and pet friendly. Tenants were quiet and respectful from what I gathered."

"The way Callista treats its residents is truly awful. I’ve lived in several apartments and never had a management so completely disrespectful to their residents. It took over two months to fix the front gate, after being told again and again it will be fixed “in a week or two,” which they only did after break-ins occurred. They now have decided to let a tow truck come in to tow residents cars. I’ve already seen three cars towed away on my way to work for their registration stickers. Not to mention the towing man is creepy and rude, and he blocks traffic the entire time he gets out of his truck to individually check cars. I never felt very safe living here and now they’ve given everyone another reason to be afraid. This is the most I’ve ever paid for an apartment for the worst experience I’ve had yet. Can not recommend living here."

"I moved in end of January. Olha was AMAZING! The move in was easy, the apartment was ready for move in. Maintenance comes quickly after a request is put in. Dog park is good size for my German Shepard Mix. The only issue is that the apartment complex is not fully gated. The trails around the apartments can be a little spooky. I also sometimes in the afternoon get cigarette smoke when my balcony door is open, which sucks since my dog is always hanging out outside. Overall and as of now, I am happy with my move in and where I am, it's quiet and calm."

"EDIT 1/18/24: We paid off what we “owe” to Callista to get this off our credit reports after Callista refused to work with us or reach a resolution. They said we should try to clear up the situation with the debt collector which is absolutely insane. Disgusting corporate greed. ****** I won’t even get into the issues we had at Callista while we lived there, because despite moving out in July they are still causing problems for us. After we moved out, they sent us to collections without ever attempting to contact us for outstanding payments (water and drainage are billed several weeks after charges are incurred so I was expecting to pay for that after moving out, plus expected to incur damage to the carpet from our pets). Maybe this is standard for the industry but I’ve never encountered this renting in Illinois and it felt needlessly aggressive. The collections company in question was very unprofessional and refused on several occasions to send us an itemized bill detailing the charges. I was only able to get an invoice after contacting Callista directly to see if the calls were legitimate and not a scam. Callista charged us to clean the unit after move out, which is a standard and expected business expense for landlords, not to mention we spent an entire day cleaning the unit ourselves when we left. They also charged for damages to the wall that were caused by their own maintenance staff when we lived there, and which we had documented with management at the time of the incident. We paid $700 total in deposits before moving in and Callista claims we owe them $200+ above and beyond that for what should be normal expenses related to turning a unit over. After reviewing the invoice and doing the math ourselves, we are actually owed a partial refund on our deposit; we told Callista we’re willing to forfeit it if they would just take our “bill” out of collections. They refuse to work with us on this and suggest we work with the collections company to sort it out, as if that is a reasonable thing to do at all."

"Alexis was a great tour guide. It was fun hanging out with her for the hour. I really like the community too My early review of Callista Hill Apts. My move in experience has been great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The apartment is large and clean and was move in ready when I got here. I like the area too."
