"The place is beautiful with awesome views. They are renovating and upgrading everything right now, and it will be even better. I have been here since 2020 and we have a great office manager and crew. They work hard to make your rental life good! I have had some issues and they were so helpful and nice. I have just renewed my lease once again for 15months."
"Updating After 6 Months: Got a notice from Google that my review had been viewed 10,000x, so figured I'd do a 6 month update. ;-) This is definitely one of my favorite places that I've lived (out of 20 in my life) and easily my favorite in Austin (compared to Domain, Downtown, and Eastside). The peace and view out here are amazing and it's only about a 20 minute drive to most places I end up going (lake, downtown, domain, etc). As an aside, a lot of the homes that have the same view as we do (looking south) are $2M-10M++. The next street over (City Park) is some of the most expensive real estate in Austin. So definitely a value to live here and get a lot of the same. I moved into one of the upgraded / renovated units, which is on par with any newer complex you'll run across (...excluding very high end towers, etc). Every neighbor that I've met has been very friendly and the kind that you end up talking to often, which is a huge perk. Another "pro" here is the maintenance. I've probably made 10 or so maintenance requests since moving in and they're ridiculously fast. Usually within an hour or so. And really cool to deal with. Can't say enough good things. As far as 6 month cons, there are a few... 1) It's not really a huge deal unless you let it be, but you'll run into some "bugs" and "what not" occasionally since you're out in the Texas Hills. (I'll leave at "s so you can use your imagination, haha) You do get used to it though. 2) The property is currently under construction, so there are some effects of that. Although I've lived in a lot of places that are under construction and it's honestly not been bad here. 3) As with pretty much any apartment in a woodframe building thats been built in the last couple of decades, noise from your neighbors carries through the ceilings and floors. So try to avoid living under a flat footed Ogar. 4) Parking garage has some pretty tight spots. So yea, in closing I guess I'd just say it's an apartment building. You're going to have tradeoffs in an apartment. It is what it is. But at least this one has some pretty cool perks (the view, the area, etc). Other parts of town are nice, but they have trade offs too. I'll take driving a little farther and having a cool view over a ton of noise, graffiti, and beggars on every corner."
"I originally moved into this complex because of the nice hill country views. However, given what I had to deal with close to the end of my lease, it was not worth it at all. My AC unit broke down 3 times at the end of May. The last time it broke down, maintenance installed a temporary window AC unit in my bedroom, which was super noisy (I could not sleep in the bedroom during this time at all), and only cooled down that one room (rest of the apartment was still not cooling down). Additionally, the way they installed the AC unit, there was a gap in the window - and I don’t think it was a coincidence that I found 2 scorpions in my apartment soon after. After dealing with this for a couple days, and seeing that they had not yet fixed my AC, I went down to the leasing office and was told that the AC unit would have to be replaced, and they could not do it for another 2 weeks. I was extremely disappointed, seeing that no one from the leasing office communicated this information with me, and that no solution was offered to me once maintenance was aware of my AC unit issue. The apartment was uninhabitable for the last few weeks of my lease - it was Texas summer months, and I did not have a working AC. The temporary unit was so loud that I had to sleep on the couch in my living room, there were scorpions getting in, and the rest of the apartment besides the bedroom was still not cooling down. Seeing that the office did not give me a solution or a timeline for when it would be fixed, I had to make arrangements to move out early. I talked to the office many times, called many times, and emailed the Tammie - the property manager, and did not get a response back until AFTER my arrangements were made to move out. I also wanted to note, that the walls in this complex are super thin - you will be able to hear your neighbor’s conversations. Additionally, the garage gate was not working and was open constantly (there were a few break ins to cars), and the parking spots are extremely cramped - likely made for compact cars. My car was damaged in the garage, and I asked the office if they could confirm whether anything was caught on camera. Again, they did not communicate with me, and I never heard back. This apartment complex advertises itself as a luxury apartment complex, will take thousands of dollars from you in rent, but will fail to complete crucial maintenance requests in a timely manner, find temporary living solutions if the maintenance request cannot be completed, or do the basic minimum of communicating with you. To this day, I have not received as little as an apology from this complex for what I had to go through."
"One star only because it’s mandatory! ( See attached photos) Where do I start? Wife and I have lived here 2 years. In that time, we’ve had to deal with 3 different management companies. Each one increaingly worse than the other. First 2 weeks after moving in, her vehicle was broken into…TWICE! My driver side window has been shattered and there are “garage shoppers” all the time. The garage gate only works about 10% of the time so that helps. Speaking of garage, it’s also the place where they store the waste dumpsters so that the relaxing aroma of hot garbage can test the limits of your gag reflexes while taking your dog out. We’ve enjoyed the amazing view (upgrade btw) currently obstructed by a giant dumpster for the past eight months now with no end in sight, or at least until they finish “renovating” the place. Along with the view is the soothing sounds of tiles, glass, wood and fixtures being thrown into a metal container all day long. The wind blows debris and garbage everywhere adding nice accent pieces to the natural scenery. The pool looks like spring break relieved itself with a nice tepid temperature so as to not pose a threat to any algae that may by trying to thrive. Now to the “renovations” as mentioned earlier. They are currently not renewing current tenants leases and instead requiring them to move into “upgraded” ones. For a discount you ask? Nope! For the same rate? Nope! At the new and improved increase in rent. Yes! Almost $800 more a month. Hard to justify when they charge 3 different garbage fees and charge for parking spaces. Yes, they charge for parking spaces to park in the parking garages. Pretty cool when you discover that you are on top of a hill and there is absolutely NO other option and there’s a garbage concierge that doesn’t get garbage on the weekends so it sits outside in the walkways. Back to the “renovations”, they replace the flooring, counter tops, light fixtures and paint the walls white. Appliances are all original, dented, malfunctioning and dirty. NICE! Our brand new renovated place proceeded to pour water into our dining area after a storm came to reveal a bad window seal in the wall. My wife and I are currently looking to move asap! If you’re reading this, please don’t move here."
"I've lived at West Lake Vistas for a year and a half, and absolutely love it! The open concept floor plans, plank flooring and stainless steel appliances are great. The best part is a toss up... our AMAZING view or our leasing agent, Haley! Haley has been so kind and helpful and is passionate about her job and the residents. Sadly, we are moving because we purchased a house, and will miss Haley and her team (and this view, y'all!). Thank you for everything, West Lake Vistas!"
