"I have a child who was referred to Texas children's GI by the pediatrician. All referral paperwork was sent along with labs. I have called 4 times to make an appointment and have been on the phone for over 1 hour each time. They have refused to schedule an appointment for an initial visit for various ridiculous reasons. I am a physician myself. I certainly won't be referring any patients to them if that is how they treat patients and family."

"The GI department is such a disappointment. I truly believe these people do not care about your kids what so ever. Dr. Haribhai called me to check on my daughter for a follow up, i missed her call and when i responded back with concerns I have yet to hear back from her, it’s been almost a week. Either the My Chart portal is a joke or they are purposely ignore the messages."

"I had Dr Harvey until I turned 15 and underwent a series of GI problems. My family had to constantly follow up with her because she could not adequately do her job and aggressively schedule testing / appointments with professional GI doctors. Her lack of education, in fact (which is very apparent, though ironic considering she went to Harvard) presented itself when she dismissed her own negligence and blamed my health problems solely on anxiety and menstrual pain. I was scheduled to meet two different doctors, both of which continually pushed back my VIRTUAL appointments that were already months away. I’m very grateful for leaving and receiving the help I needed with a real GI professional. Had I left sooner, I would not have lost a year of my life to bad health. How Texas Children’s is allowed to operate is beyond me. They are incompetent at the highest level, disturbingly unfeeling, and evidently are trapping many young patients into a long cycle of frustration. Please do not take your child here, they deserve so much better. (I would rate them zero stars if I could.)"

"I wish I could put half a star. By far the worst communication ever. I am not sure why Dr Barton would ever get 5 stars I have had the worst experience with her being my daughter doctor. My 5 year old has been in pain almost everyday for 2 months. I have called Dr Barton for the pass 3 days left messages 4/6/22 and left messages on my chart. I have not heard anything back from the doctor. I spoke to the front desk yesterday 4/7/22 told her my concerns for my child she went to track down a nurse after I told her I had no luck speaking to anyone for 2 days. The nurse gets on the line and said I will speak to Dr Barton today and ask her to call. 4/8/22 I still not heard from Dr Barton. My daughter had a gastric emptying test done on 4/6/22 I have not gotten a call from Dr Barton explaining the results I had to google it myself to find out my daughter is having problems digesting food now it makes since why my child is screaming in pain everyday or afraid to eat. I requested to see another doctor whom is currently my other child doctor and the receptionist said in a very rude way why do you want to do that? I was told that I couldn't switch and it was up to Dr Barton and Dr Chu to allow me to switch doctors. This should be my choice!! I am the parent! I am the one paying for their service not the other way around. If you receive bad service you take your money else where. Why would I want to pay a doctor not to help my child and when I request another doctor in the same practice I was rudely declined. I have to get help for my daughter so I decided to search for doctors outside of Texas Children's Hospital who is supposed be ranked number #4 in the nation for GI. My daughter has not been treated like she is being seen by a top hospital at all. I would never refer anyone to Texas Children's The Woodlands GI department. When I express my concerns to friends who have kids also. It was sad to hear their stories about there terrible experience's with the woodlands area hospital and don't recommend it either."

"If your child has any GI problems, DO NOT trust this hospital-department to help with proper care. I was misguided for 3yrs taking my daughter here supposedly under “top ranked specialists”. She went through very intense testing (even surgical) with little to no help finding the problem-solution. It was like “medical duck duck goose” shuffled around here. It was impossible to get ANY of the nurses or staff to answer or follow up much needed phone communication. That online “my chart” portal is a joke and was never properly used by any of the medical staff. Even my pharmacy constantly complained of the LACK of communication with this office just to confirm basic medication fills. Then when GI ailments can’t be helped or even treated here, they immediately schedule your child with their psychological department. We even gave that whole department multiple attempts to help, but they are also a very disappointing department. The only efficient department is the billing. They definitely know how to swipe my credit card and take that payment upfront (I’ve paid thousands on top of insurance as well). If I could help other parents like myself with a very ill child, find a doctor and hospital far away from Texas Children’s."
