Royal Oaks Apartment

"I would like to first start off by saying that this place was cheap and I knew we were getting we paid for but the way that things were handled an the way me and my wife were treated was some of the worse management I have ever witnessed in my life. First off I would like to say that Royal Oaks Apartments in Alvin was THE worse apartment I had ever lived in. To start things off we had a felon that lived next door to us (which the manager knowingly let stay there) who was later kicked out for wanting the mold taken care in his apartment and the faucet under the sink. There was mold in the bathroom all over the ceiling and in the tub itself. We have to after Harvey endure leaking from the ceiling in the middle of the dining room for a week before they came to fix it citing “the reason they couldn’t fix it sooner is because they had rental properties that needed a lot of work”. This is coming straight from the manager’s mouth and our second week in sewage where there was clearing solid human waste poured into our back patio and this was the second week in. We then had a roach infestation so bad that even after cleaning the kitchen there was lots of roaches all over the floor once you turn on the light scattering about. The front door we had to badger them about for 2 months to replace because the former door had to opened with so much force. The electricity on one half of the apartment just will randomly die and the manager again stated that we needed to “not plug multiple things in at once because it’ll cause the breaker to shut off” Then the owner herself Donna was extremely and very condescending talking to us like children and was very argumentative about a pipe breaking that flooded our back patio. The worst part of this experience was the huge rat issue in which the manager Debra refused to call an exterminator(which I have texts to prove so). Debra’s husband Tony who frequents the property never will and I repeat never will fix a thing. You will maybe gracious get to see him roll through in his car playing loud 80’s Rock. We emailed, faxed and sent Debra and Donna lists of what needs to be fixed in the apartment in late February. Their response to the second letter after giving them 30 days was a response letter stating we had to leave as of May 1st at the beginning of this pandemic. An I mention the pandemic because places weren’t meeting with potential renters due to the unknown so they left us in a bind trying to find another place to live in such short time. The exterminator was never called for the rats, Donna was utterly disrespectful, Debra will never do as she says she will and is full of empty promises. This place needs to be condemned due to the fact that is harbours germs, mold and rodents an insects galore. The only reason the roach issue was solved was because our very kind and amazing neighbor sprayed to combat the issue. Royal Oaks is disgusting, an eye sore and the manager Debra needs reprimanding, Donna is a true Slumlord and Tony who is suppose to be maintenance is a joke an the collection of characters makes this place the dream graveyard that it is. Don’t waste your time or money because this place is disgusting gross an used so the owner can take your rent to then use to fix up houses that they rent out. RENTER BEWARE"
