"This place takes ghetto to whole new level. I've stayed at hundreds if not thousands of hotels and motels across the country in just about every major city and in small towns and not one of them were even half as bad as this place or as expensive. It's not worth $50/night let alone the insane price of $100/night they are charging! There are so many nicer 3-4 star hotels in much nicer cities for less than $100/night. Most of the guests were homeless and living there. All THREE ice machines were broken and out of order. I spoke with another guest and they said they have been that way for months. We had to get ice at a convenient store. The people in the room next to ours smoked weed 24/7 both inside and outside of their room and our room reeked of pot so bad I got a headache from it. One room a few doors down had a toddler hanging out of their window screaming the entire day and late into the night. Probably trying to get air because her parents were also smoking pot in their room. The entire motel reeked of pot. The couple in the room on the other side of mine got into a violent fight and were screaming and cussing and throwing stuff. It was so bad the walls were shaking. At least two or three other altercations occurred outside in the parking lot and around the building in just the one day we were there. It seamed like someone was screaming every couple of minutes. It felt like we were in a circus. The parking lot was littered in garbage and was filthy. 70% of the cars outside had broken windows or flat tires or were full of clothes or garbage. The WiFi was so slow it was totally useless. Breakfast was supposed to be 6am to 9am. At 7am there was nothing but a couple pieces of bread and some Raisin Bran. There was no milk or butter. Just dry cereal and slices of white bread. We originally planned to stay 4 nights but since the room was $100/night, we ended up packing up after one night and moved to another much nicer hotel next door that was only $10-$20 more a night. I wish we had just paid extra and stayed there to begin with. It was like night and day compared to Baymont. The hot breakfast alone was worth the $10-$20 more a day. Just not being there is worth $10-$20 extra a day."
"Horrible experience with this place. The company I work for uses this place for corporate lodging and we're supposed to be able to check in any time. I got there at 9am and they told me there were no available rooms until noon. I called around and couldn't find any other rooms available so I waited there 3 hours and finally got checked into a room. As I was noticing how filthy and dilapidated the place is, very disappointed that I waited 3 hours for that dump, there was a knock at the door. It was a housekeeper telling me they want me at the front desk right now. I went back up to the lobby and the clerk informed me that she was having trouble processing the payment thru CLC so she called the manager and he told her she wasn't supposed to take those cards anymore and I need to leave. Very inconvenient and unprofessional but the place was disgusting and I was a little worried about bugs in there anyway. I would definitely recommend avoiding this place."
"Room has roaches and owners won’t do anything about it. First room had no hot water so they moved me, I would have preferred the cold shower to the bugs. Not normally a review poster but I hope to warn future guests to not stay here, it’s unsanitary. The positive reviews on here are likely fake or from family, many have the same last name as the owner."
"I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Baymont by Wyndham Austin University Area. While I had hoped for a comfortable and pleasant stay, my expectations were far from met. The most glaring issue was the homeless encampment that has taken root on the property. As I approached the hotel, I was greeted by a disheartening sight: tents, makeshift shelters, and people living in their cars scattered across the parking lot. The once inviting entrance now felt unwelcoming and unsafe. In summary, my stay at Baymont by Wyndham Austin University Area was marred by the distressing presence of the homeless encampment. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone until they address this serious issue and prioritize the safety and comfort of their guests."
"0/10! It smelled badly of smoke after requesting no smoking room. The air was old and stale, without ventilation over many days. It caused me and my husband both to cough at night. It was very loud outside our room. Lots of people opening and closing cars, car horns and alarms. The door did not have sound proofing. We heard arguments from other visitors, shouting from women and drunk men. The bed had a plastic sheet, like to sleep in a hospital. The room was not clean. Old wet dust and stains in the bathroom, the carpet, surfaces were streaky with cleaner. Stains on the walls and doors, splashes of unidentifiable liquids, especially on the couch. The air conditioner was very loud, excessively, and had a musty smell that was unpleasant. The worst of the worst was upon entering the room for the first time, placing our things inside, we noticed the bathroom light was on. The door closed. My husband tried to open and there was a woman inside. She seemed alarmed and was apologetic, but obviously doing something strange inside. We were very fearful of this discovery, about someone hiding inside our room. They gave us a new room, but we did not feel safe sleeping at that place after what happened. The next morning, we opened our door to leave and saw that a pickup outside our room had a broken window. Probably broken during the night, since we heard lots of activity outside. We requested a new room, and the front desk man didn't believe us about the woman hiding inside. We had to repeatedly inform him about the situation. He didn't seem to be bothered by our startling concern, as if it was normal to him, or we were a nuisance for asking for assistance. Overall, BAD experience. Extremely overpriced place for such horrible kinds of people, accommodation, and customer service. The best thing was the location. Near the center area of Austin."
