"After a very beautiful but expensive wedding the night before, a group of family had brunch the next morning and they weren’t very accommodating. They made us choose from 4 menu items while the rest of the patrons had full menu options, There wasn’t the option of a side of bacon or any extras. They couldn’t separate the bill either into families. The service was slow and the food was decent but not exceptional, and it was still expensive! They don’t have ice or coffee readily available in the rooms either. Considering the amount of money dropped on my niece’s event, I really expected a more accommodating attitude."

"Cyerra, Johnny, Zach and Jacob are all very gracious and accommodating. Comfortable beds, luxury sheets and pillows, beautiful decor, spacious rooms, gorgeous pool, yummy restaurant, historic charm in a great location. I highly recommend Hotel Ella!"

"We were married here 10 years ago right after the renovations were completed. We went back recently to have drinks to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and I have to say it felt dumpy. The drinks were the best part but even that was missing the mark. When you ask for a dirty martini and it is delivered in a wine glass because “we are out of martini glasses” doesn't give the 4-star experience we were looking for. We ordered their flat bread, which tasted great, but that took 45 min from order to delivery to our table. The floors were dirty and the furniture could use some reupholstering. The staff were gossiping behind the bar and the curtain to prevent you from seeing the kitchen area could use some love - It reminded me of a shower curtain. Overall, it was sad to see that the pride in appearance that was their 10 years ago was missing. It’s the little details that make or break an experience and this was missing the mark for me. I almost wish I had not gone back as to not ruin the memories of what amazing service we experienced when we were married there compared to today."

"We had a terrible experience, we attended a high end event on the 14th that did not meet expectations despite what I know was a big price tag the firm paid. Food was terrible, typical fajitas, Food was not hot. Server gave small portions and said come back for seconds if you want to try the fish instead of chicken, server attitude was dour and unpleasant. The bar had 1 bartender for nearly 75 guests, After people ate nobody came around to pic up dishes and there was no place to leave them. The room was fine but when we called down for room service in the morning they said they were out of coffee. A perfect ending to an unpleasant experience. Sorry"

"Hotel Ella is both elevated and friendly. Feels like you’re staying at a friend’s mansion bc staff offers such personalized experience. They have a wraparound porch and second floor deck with cozy chairs, couches and tables. Breakfast is delicious and fresh (the most perfectly cooked scrambled eggs I’ve ever had). I didn’t eat there for lunch or dinner so can’t comment on those, but i had their deviled eggs and cheese baord and cocktails at happy hour and they were all superb. My room was immaculate and surprisingly spacious (aside from low ceilings which are part of the charm, since it’s an old building). Bed was comfy, good linens, plenty of towels etc in the bathroom. Shower water temp wasn’t that hot, and water flow a little weak, but otherwise it was good. I come to Austin regularly and this hotel was priced better than Marriott and way better experience. Will stay here from now on!"
