Reviews of Miraval Austin Resort & Spa
"My friend and I came to experience this location. Upon entry, we were blown away. I felt like I was in a restoration hardware catalogue. So pretty. Very quickly, the customer service became an issue. We had a tour and got dropped off for lunch. We were at the tail end of the lunch hour. A stressed out host asked us what we were doing. We said we wanted to have lunch. She came back a few moments later and course corrected and gave us to go trays but was clearly annoyed. My room wasn't available but I was encouraged to ask a staff member for help when it was 3 to get my key. I got my room key. No directions to find my room. My room was on a bottom level and there were no signs to find it. I finally found it and my room still had cleaning supplies in it and my blinds were broken. The engineer showed up promptly and fixed it. I got a front desk apology, but that was it. Got to dinner and we were essentially scolded for not making a reservation. Dinner was decent on Thursday. Amazing on Friday and Saturday. Very friendly and helpful wait staff. The guy at the smoothie station seems like he would rather be anywhere else. My friend asked for a date in her smoothie instead of honey, because she's allergic. He said, " I would have to go to the kitchen." The kitchen is literally on the other side of the room. So no date. He didn't want to walk over there. We get it that the smoothies are pre-made but the woman who made smoothies in Arizona was so kind and informative and accommodating. He seemed like a pissed off Starbucks employee. The other female smoothie employee was amazing. I feel like I can keep going, and I have so many more examples of sad service but also great service, but I hope you get the hint. Good but not great. For 1000 plus a night, I would expect more. And our expectations were so met and exceeded in Arizona. It's such a shame that this was not our experience in Austin. You dont want the grumpy service to become a conversational point while trying to have a "Miraval" experience. Good luck. It could be good or terrible."
"I reserved 2 day passes and had the most relaxing experience. We drove up to the property and were greeted by the sweetest resort personnel, Karen. Who helped get us checked in and gave us a tour of the property. I LOVE that they have 2 pools as pools tend to get crowded. The cafe for refreshments is so convenient and delicious. Lunch was so fresh and had something for everyone. Beautiful serene views throughout the property. Plenty of little areas to relax and chat or read. The shop had such good jewelry and clothes I was impressed. The spa is beyond words. Book a treatment! Don’t skip on this It enhances the Miraval experience. The Ayurvedic treatments are superb! Miraval is a higher end experience but It is so worth it!"
"We reserved two day passes and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The ginger healer body scrub + massage was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend Andrea for your massage therapist! Phones are not encouraged so keeping track of time is very tricky if you sign up for any classes or adventures. We missed our one class entirely because we lost track of time at the salt pool. Lulu at the pool was an incredible server. Absolutely friendly and accommodating. It’s February and we completely lucked out on the gorgeous day we had."
"I heard some great things about the resort, so it was definitely on my list of things to do. I would not go back though. When I go to these type of experiences, the massage treatment is usually the highlight, but my massage was HORRIBLE!! The food was not that good and there were limited choices. I had a day experience and not an overnight one. Overnight guests said there were rooms with leaks as well. It was raining that day and the leaks were obvious. I came to relax, unplug and recharge. The resort is in a quiet peaceful location but service overall is not what I expected for the price of the location and the services; it is not comparable to a Ritz Carlton experience. There are better luxurious options for a restful retreat at a much lower price point."
"This place was beautiful, and the staff were extremely nice. Food was absolutely amazing. There were a few things that were less than ideal, though: *we had to move rooms twice due to a leak and a malfunctioning air conditioner. We ended up in three different rooms in three days. * all trails were closed to guests unless you signed up for a guided tour. We chose this location in part because of the nature and trials that are advertised. We wanted to hike and explore, not to go on a guided short tour. We were excited about the large campus and disappointed to find out that we could not explore it. * the queen bed room (where we started off) is quite small for the price. In fact, all the rooms are small for the price. * if you are not into yoga, tarot cards, or some sort of self-oriented epiphany, then there is not a lot to do, especially when the trails are closed. I found myself in the room a lot. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would not return; the price is far too high, and we did not feel like we were the clientele this kind of resort is geared towards."
