"Great golf course. Rooms and restaurants alittle overpriced. Beautiful scenery. Been there done that.. long way from Georgia. Have to be able to handle your own luggage and enjoy walkon."
"We brought a group of 30 out for a weekend of golf. Terry & Seth in the group sales department was great and gave us a fair price. The pro shop staff was very accommodating and flexible with our changing games and schedule. The staff in the Thirsty Goat and servers in the pavilion were great. The served all thirty of us efficiently with 2-3 people. Food was really solid and the Thirsty Goat was a great hang. Golf course conditions exceeded expectations, especially for February. Greens were fast and the views were unreal. Thanks for hosting us and showing us a great time."
"Oh Lajitas! This is basically the only resort in the Big bend area. Big Bend is a stunningly beautiful national park that everyone should go to. We stayed at Lajitas in 2011 and had a fantastic time. Unfortunately, nothing has changed except the prices. We spent about $450 a night for our room. It has no view and looks exactly the same as when we booked it in 2011. As a matter of fact, the landscaping is not been kept up and so there are actually weeds growing around the cabins. The cowboy action shooting was amazing and we had so much fun doing that both times we've been there!! I would highly recommend! The dining was extremely hit and miss. I had a very good meal one night and yet another day I was served a raw shrimp in the middle of a side salad and I had to bring it back to the kitchen myself. There was also a night where we tried to eat at the bar at 6:30 and the staff was told the kitchen was 2 hours behind. Our order went through, but when my food was brought it was completely raw pork. I ended up buying dinner at a gift shop next door. I never saw a manager the entire time I was there. It was mainly staff that looked to be in their '20s. They were doing the best they could but there was a complete lack of leadership. If something as significant as serving raw pork happened at my work, you better believe I would have apologized to that customer personally. One of the things I loved the most about this resort in 2011 was the stars and the bats that were everywhere. They're still there, but there's actually a lot of obnoxious lighting around all the rooms now. Basically hanging Christmas light type lights that obscure the stars. They did have a super cool rare bourbon called Orphan Barrel that we tried. And the sunsets were stunning! So I guess in summary, this is the best place in the area.... but that's not saying a lot, and it's extremely overpriced."
"I could write an essay about how stellar this place is. The views are stunning. The golf course is forgiving off the tees allowing for monstrous drives, but bring your A+ game for the up-down. Sunset horse ride up the mountain is a must! Above all the majestic views, and well refined experiences, you'll find a staff that is second to none. Every single staff member we encountered (well over 25) was eager to enhance our experience. Task completed successfully. See you guys again next year!"
"We had an excellent time at the resort. As other reviewers noted, I expected the hotel to be a bit more "upscale" than it is, but in the end we were really happy with how helpful and relaxed the staff were, the level of cleanliness, the organization of the information and activity booking (golf), and the quality of the rooms. The appropriate emphasis is placed on the things that matter, without unnecessary frills that serve only to drive up the cost. The front desk staff was extremely helpful, and were able to check availability and book an additional night to extend our stay. We would have happily stayed for a few days longer than that :)"
