"The original property manager was amazing. The new (Mia J.) is a rude one and could care less about residents. Car towing is excessive, police presence is over the top. Many great families on the property and only 1 decent employee at this office that lives on property."

"The extra star is only because the apartments look nice, but it's still new.. I read the reviews, knew there was a wait list, etc. I was fine with all that since I'm not looking to move till next year and just wanted some information. Drove out there because online and on the office it says that they open at 10am.. got there and the doors were locked. I decided maybe making an appointment was best. I made an appointment to tour the apartments at the first available slot (11am), left, came back before my scheduled appointment time (per the website). I got there probably 20 min early, office doors locked.. continued to wait past my scheduled time and made an effort to call the office about it. No answer. Eventually spoke to them that afternoon and was told we'll send you the info for the wait list, but there's no units to show since it's a 2-3 year wait. No other info, no talk about qualifications or anything more. I'd rather pay the money elsewhere to have a staff that is present and available. Regardless of if they have an apartment to show me or not, being able to obtain the information for renting there in the future would be nice OR don't allow people to book scheduled tours online and allow them to show up for nothing."

"In regards to the negative reviews about the wait list and length of time, honestly what do you expect? There's a serious housing shortage for low income/HUD rentals, especially those that are well kept, safe and have amenities. Yes the wait list may be long but remember, the people who are on the list before you have a high probability of already finding a place somewhere else. When I was looking at various properties before deciding on The Independence I paid the app fee and got on the "12-15 month" wait list of another apt community- 3 months later I got a call that an apartment was available. If you're waiting til the last minute to decide to move and start looking for a new home, good luck. Remember, all good things are worth the wait. Beautiful new apartments with friendly and welcoming staff. Property is extremely well lit, I feel very safe walking my dog late at night. Any maintenance work orders are handled promptly by staff. Living my best life and loving it at The Independence McKinney"
