Reviews
"The main lobby, exterior and front porches are very charming but unfortunately the rooms didn’t quite hit the mark. The “turn of the century” feeling they are going for, at least with regards to the room we stayed in in the Orchard House part of the hotel, were outdated and strangely furnished. There was a lot of room, which was great, but the rooms just had a weird vibe. Also some frustrations like that the water could only get warm and not hot."
"We spent one night @ the Hotel Limpia in Fort Davis, TX, in our swath of West Texas. It was delightfully quaint and quiet. Everything was so clean and my wife commented on the adequate lighting in the bathroom. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would both highly recommend this hotel & Fort Davis."
"Old-style hotel where you get authentic old-style comfort. If you do not expect much and a romantic look is all that matters, then go for it. This is unfortunately not our case. The equipment is noticeably dated, rooms smell a bit stale, and our bed sheets were slightly dirty. These things could somewhat be tolerated but there was yet a bigger issue. We came on Superbowl Sunday which was a pretty cold day. Upon arrival the thermometer was showing 52F inside. The in-house heating could not cope. After calling the reception we had to wait quite a while because the maintenance guy obviously had to first finish watching the Superbowl before attending to us. Btw the hotel cable TV was overloaded, and we had to watch the game in Spanish on some Mexican channel. Not exactly how I imagined watching game of the year but anyway. We were given additional heaters and told it will soon get warm. After fully blasting those heaters all night the result was 72F inside by morning. We complained about this, demanding a refund only to be told that the problem was dealt with. Well, I guess we all have a different perception of comfort. As for me personally, I would expect more after paying $230+ a night. That is just my own opinion. Nevertheless, life goes on."
"A great hotel in Fort Davis. For a town that has only 1 main restaurant, 1 deli, and 1 grocery store, the place is a standout. It’s older but they’ve kept it up to date. There’s lots of relaxing spaces, including tons of rocking chairs. For colder nights they have seating areas indoors as well. The service is top notch and the front desk folks are always very sweet. Definitely worth staying here if you’re in the area."
"We arrived after hours and had no problem getting into our room. Shelly had everything we needed in an envelope waiting for us. Our room was comfortable and clean. This hotel is a piece of history that you must see. We were told that the owners of this lovely place are going to remodel it. If I may, remodel isn’t what should be done. It should be restored. The carpet on the second floor and from all of the rooms should be removed and expose all of the hardwood floors that I know is probably under it. I would paint the walls and ceilings as well as adding more antiques and period light fixtures. This place is a gem from history and would benefit from just a few fixes. We will be back!! Thank you Shelly for being so kind and sweet."
