"Great school, great teachers and staff."
"Let's just say this school's attempt on circumnavigating a set process led to me removing my son from the district as a whole. I don't trust their judgment nor do I believe they care about anything other than enrollment numbers. They are rated low because they deserve to be rated low. Changing the faculty and staff members won't matter if the culture and environment isn't addressed. I understand it's a public school but a little empathy and ownership of your mistakes would be nice. Telling a family you messed up but you're not going to do anything about it isn't exactly going to build confidence within the local community."
"Mrs. Wilson is such a wonderful Kinder teacher she is kind hearted and works so hard to plant the seed for kids to love learning and education. All faculty and staff are amazing as well. Mrs. Rojas welcomes you to the school with a big smile every time you enter the door. Nurse is sweet as pie. Lunch attendants always there to help those little hands. Just overall a great school!"
"Worst school ever! When something serious happen they wont even let u speak with the Principle who is only standing a few feet in front of u. My son's food went missing first day i registered him to the school. Then before Christmas break my son comes home with a busted lip and nasty scratch on his head. Let me remind u my son just turned 6. They tell me it happened on the bus but wheni spoke to the driver he tells me that no nothing like that has ever happened on his bus especially since my son sits directly behind him next to the aid who helps. So the school not only lies to cover their tracks but they also make up different stories. Teacher my son had was rude and would never communicate with me nor would she answer back to simple question I would ask and leave in his folder. She told me to my face that she doesnt have time to check emails nor messages. And on parent teacher conference she calls 15 min prior to cancel the meeting. Telling me she had nothing on my son cuz he came in too late in the yr. We moved here in Oct only being a few months from first day. So ya. Plz be careful when putting ur children in this school. Teachers are never aware of anything that goes on especially at lunch. They take the kids to lunch and then they run out like immature adults to their break room."
"Our children are about to start their third year at Potranco Elementary. We moved to this school from Lackland Elementary (a wonderful school!) and the transition was fairly easy. It was hard to adjust to the fact that the school does not have a music, art, or separate gifted and talented class. Despite these set backs, the teachers and administrators have been wonderful. We do not attend PTO meetings or associate with the staff outside of regular parental requirements (no sucking up or offering praise to anybody) and our children have always been treated well. Issues that we have had in regards to other students have been resolved promptly and the teachers are always willing to provide any information we ask for. The school puts on plays through out the year and the teachers incorporate music and art in the class schedule. The curriculum is slightly below our expectations and the GT program that our children are in is almost non-existent; however, we spend time creating educational events outside of school for our children. The principle, Mr.B, has created special events for the children who meet and exceed academic expectations. At the end of the 2012-2013 school year, he had ice cream sundaes with students who did will in the accelerated reader program. The students are recognized for good deed with the "caught doing something good" program. Over all, my children are happy and love their teachers and we have been satisfied with the school. ***This school has changed! The administration takes a "look the other way" stance on lice. My children were coming home at least once a month with a full infestation, they knew and told me who was patient zero ( a violation of that child's rights) but said there was nothing they could do about it. Children got left a lone in class while napping, kids got left behind at bus stops, denied food if the lunch lady didnt like them, kids allowed to bully other kids, substitute teachers allowed to yell and curse at kids, and the only way to get a response from administration is to call the main office and threaten to call the media. If you are thinking of moving to this school district, dont. If you are in it already - find a charter or private school."
