Reviews
"My daughter is still crying even after several years of attending this school due to being traumatized by Bullies and being punished for lack of performance due to her autism. And we were never notified. School is like a prison for kids who are forced to attend by law even while being abused and taking advantage of without having any say in the matter."
"Shame on you for teaching intolerance for other cultures and religion by denying a kindergarten student who is Native American to have long hair. The mother is right, he will never forget his first day of kindergarten and the racism he encountered at this school. He was taught that the First Amendment of the US Constitution only applies to some Americans, but not the original Americans apparently. In a town called Seminole, there is really no excuse at all for this lack of cultural awareness."
"If the story is accurate as reported by Levi Rickert that Five-Year-Old Navajo Boy Denied Admission on First Day of School Because His Hair is Too Long by Levi Rickert / Currents / 27 Aug 2014. The position of the school, the district is disgusting. I would expect nothing less that cultural safety /sensitivity training for the entire district. Building intercultural relations through cultural safety practices helps people to understand who we are as a people. The committee that developed the policy must reflect on who they are as a people and where they came from. Native American people are not visitors to the land; they are inherently part of it it is theirs not ours. Rules and systems existed before colonization and they worked. As people of religion depend on the good book to guide their lives, Native American people have their inherent traditions, rituals and culture that guide theirs. Change the policy, change the attitude and open your minds to the creativity of the children, not what they look like. I would suggest the parent not sign any papers but the school apologize to the parent, the child and the community for their unfortunate decision. I am an educator, advocate and professional who work to create a voice for our children and their rights to education, culture and an inclusive community."
"As teachers and leaders to our children, you speak of no bullying policies, no alcohol or tobacco use on premises, and no weapons on property. But racism is not an issue nor a problem... you rather concentrate on "policy" which a school has set out. Sorry but religion is bigger than your "policy". I, myself, find the disgrace in this situation. How dare you tell a person to do something that is against their will and religion. You cannot see me going into your domain to change your beliefs or your point of views. Thank you though for showing that racism against the Native Americans is still alive and well in this world. You have shown the oldest racism on this land itself against the true people that were part of this land before Christopher Columbus, The Conquestidor's, or Even Amerigo Vespucci. The teachers, the council members, and the superintendent and principal congratulate yourselves also for being now known as the bigots of the education system. Sorry folks, I will stand for Malachi, the true innocent being in this whole situation. I seen this in my younger days and it sickened me to see it as it does today."
"I wouldn't let my worst enemy go to that school. F J Young is full of red-neck, Racist hillbilly's. The only thing they teach there is hatred, bigotry and that white people are better than any other race. I pity the children already caught up in their web of HATE!"
