"So frustrated, Drove 15 min away to this er since the other one right by my house was completely packed out! Didn’t get a chance to be seen no free public parking! My 4 year old had a 102 fever and I asked the security guard where do I park he said ma’am there’s no free parking either the garage for $2/hr or valet for $8/hr so wait you mean that sick patients are paying half the valet salary and y’all are making people pay to be seen at a public emergency room in the Middle of the Medical Center! Plus if I park in those areas I still have to walk with the sick child all the way across campus! Make it make sense, except it doesn’t! That’s healthcare for ya!"
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the medical staff at Childrens Methodist PICU for their swift action and exceptional expertise in identifying and treating my daughter's rare condition, ultimately saving her life. Additionally, their level of care and support made me feel as though I was surrounded by family."
"I cannot say thank you enough to the emergency to the children's ward up on the third floor that nurses the doctors, the lunchman or the lunch lady. Everyone that attended and took care of my great-grandson. You did an amazing excellent job. I'm very grateful. Great grandson is back on the road to health. blessings to all of you. From the bottom of my heart. A very grateful great grandmother my family and I thank you"
"Went in due to my son having fever, overworking himself on breathing, no appetite, not wanting to drink and fatigue. As soon as he was called to the back the nurses knew something was not right and sent him to the back immediately. Doctor ran test on him and he ended up testing positive for RSV. We stayed there for 4 days and these nurses and doctors along with respiratory therapist did a wonderful job with getting my son back to being himself. The constant checks, on time with medication and asking every time if we needed anything. Thank you for all the hard work everyone did."
"Go to Christus Children’s Hospital. There is one in Stone Oak, Westover Hills, and Downtown. Methodist ER basically wanted to refuse service. I hate to give bad reviews but this effects the livelihood of children. Turns out she needed a renal ultrasound and has hydronephrosis. They could have easily checked her fluids or done a finger prick to check sugars, but they are the least compassionate and worst bedside manner hospital I have ever encountered. Any physician should know a newborn needs immediate medical attention who has had extreme weight gain and/or sudden loss. My 3 month old lost 8 pounds suddenly (after being over 20 pounds for about 40 days). Additionally, my daughter had a horrible cough and they didn’t even listen to her lungs, check her ears, or offer to do a flu/COVID/rsv test. I don’t know the doctors name because he never introduced himself. The rude nurse said Dr Dirkander (glasses and had an accent). He just stormed into the room and proceeded to tell me I was lying and it was impossible for a baby her age to be 22.5 pounds. I calmly pleaded my case with this misogynist explaining her various weights over the course of her life and how they were obtained. He didn’t believe she had a cardiologist but when he asked me the name and I responded quickly he seemed to change his tone. He was 150% certain bloodwork would come back normal, but he ordered it. The nurse comes in and puts the tourniquet on my daughters arm so tightly that she is hysterically screaming for probably 10 minutes while she’s trying to find her veins with various lights placed under her arms. I’ve had other children’s blood work done (even at the newborn stage) and have never seen it done this way. Once she was ready to draw blood another nurse came in to hold my daughters body down. I leaned on the bed to try and calm her while holding her hand and looking into her eyes as she was screaming. I didn’t look because I get squeamish myself around needles. My mom finally stopped the procedure after several minutes because they were getting zero blood. She was afraid my daughter was going to pass out. My mom said this nurse was digging the iv needle into her arm and doing a snake motion to find the vein. Between the two of us we’ve had IVs and bloodwork at least a dozen times and no one has ever used that method. It’s as if this nurse took out her frustration on a helpless baby because she was so irritated to be at work. I’ve had busted veins and lost feeling in my arm due to IVs. It happens. I know 99% of nurses are doing the best they can, but this particular nurse had no clue. She seriously seemed to be acting with malice because she was also super irritated because my daughter was moving so much when she was trying to wrap the oxygen monitor around her toe. She had a major chip on her shoulder. After she was stopped she said she would tell the doctor we decided not to do the blood work. I said no and that we needed someone else because I know there is always 1-2 nurses on any unit that is known to have a knack for getting the most difficult patients quickly. She acted like there were no other options but her and we told her that was not true. Finally, she said she’d get the charge nurse. We waited 30 minutes. No doctor, resident, nurse, or charge nurse ever came (and this place was swarming with idle employees). My daughter didn’t have wet diapers and wasn’t eating. Initially they said they would check back on her to see if she would take any of her bottle—maybe 2 hours had passed and no one checked on the status of her diapers or feeding. We left abruptly because it was obvious my daughter would not get the attention she deserved at that place. We were in a room for a total or maybe 2.5 hours for essentially nothing. I feel sorry for the resident who has to train under that idiot who has been in pediatrics with Methodist supposedly for over 20 years."
