"We were just here over the weekend and we didn’t have any issues. The receptionist was helpful and polite. The triage nurses were excellent And attentive. The medical students that were helping the doctors and p.a.’s were knowledgeable and helpful in the process. And the patient had no issues. We’d go here again if needed But we’re trying to stay out of the ER. Thank you UTSA Children’s Hospital for taking care of us quickly and with care."
"I’ve been taking my son here back and forth for his first year of living because his team of doctors are here. My son has complex medical issues. Each visit at the ER I’ve endured such a long wait time. This last visit was the last straw for me from the ED doctor Shawn Varney who was extremely rude to me and walked out mid conversation, because he could not handle my fustration after waiting in the ER room for 12 hours with no treatment or prognosis for my 15 month old son. I even asked his name and he continued to walk out without giving me his name and I had to retrieve from a colleague. This hospital alone has failed my son many times to where I have completely lost trust in their care and will have to transfer my child’s care to another hospital. After all was said and done I still went home with no resolution for my son who is still very much in pain. I am pursuing to file against this hospital for malpractice and it’s very unfortunate, because the nurses are amazing and the new tower is beautiful but their system is a mess! It’s sad to see so many people have the same experience at this ER/hospital that makes my decision even more validated to change his care. I do hope that they take into account the reviews and complaints and take proper action. No parent or patient should have to be provided more stress under the care of doctors. We seek for answers and proper care not to battle with doctors fighting to be heard and helped. It feels like these doctors here don’t care about your well being a priority and leave you in the dark due to their lack of communication between their team of doctors and relaying information to the patient. I will never return to this ER as I have been doing for a year now and each time the experience gets worse and worse. I have many other horrid stories of this place but, I will only tell about this last visit on 12/27-12/29. They have completely failed my son."
"If you have an emergency and your kid is in need of help, go anywhere else but here. My son's throat was closing up and was having trouble breathing because of an affection in his tonsils we waited 5 hrs for Motrin and told to get his primary to schedule a throat dr because they couldn't help him. Don't even get me started on parking. You have to park in the worse designed parking garage maze a block away, then you get to carry your child to the emergency room. Stocked with 1 nurse and rest trainees that miss spelled everything giving us even more trouble getting seem or connected to some app that was supposed to give us exam results. I truly hated our experience here."
"We were sent to emergency from an urgent care center due to our son’s elevated risk for complications. The whole visit here took over 4 hours. We were there for several lacerations as a result of my son accidentally breaking a window. The actual time spent with us was maybe 15 minutes and the service was subpar. The wounds were not cleaned properly and the glue was applied incorrectly. Additionally, we had to take him elsewhere later when a “bump” —noted while we were there— near a wound was still bothering him. Turns out it was, as suspected, a piece of glass. The doctor was rude and combative. Honestly, the only person we encountered that was helpful was the intake nurse."
"There is no other place I will take my 3 year old daughter to than University health Children's ER. Out of the 6 or maybe even more times we have been here since my daughter has been born (at this hospital), each and every time the registrants, nurses and doctors have been welcoming and informative. This place is super clean from what I see and i loved how they put Disney channel for her in our room before we got in. The courtesy level is awesome. Nothing bad to say and we appreciate your hard work always :). A big thank you!!"
