"Louisville's best by far"
"Had company do lumber take off of small addition - estimate off by over 25% from an estimator that has been there around 20 years. I spoke to Richard Boland and he said he would look into ( even gave him a copy of the plans and the estimate) - never received a response and now I have to try to explain to home owners why their cost estimate is so far off. I had previously used K&I lumber and will return to using them. Boland Maloney included their last 16 sheets of 3/4" plywood for the roof sheathing and because of being being so severely short I had to go back to store to get additional only to find out after paying for- that they were out. I have no idea why the estimator put plywood instead of OSB on the estimate ( maybe because they had a few sheets of this and needed to get rid of). Boland Maloney's cost turned out to be approximately 20% higher than other suppliers. I had dealt with this store for many years on small orders over the counter and felt I should give them the opportunity to estimate the package on a small job. I learned a big lesson here. I was told that the unused materials would be picked up the next morning - after waiting at the site from 7:30 am to 10 the next morning - I called and talked to the estimater who said he would check to see when the truck would be there. He never called back - I called again and spoke to dispatch and they said it would be Monday ( not Friday) for pick up and couldn't understand why the estimator would tell me that. The estimator called me back later and repeated this information that it would be Monday - no apology offered. I was there Monday am awaiting truck again and finally called in to see what was going on. They said they would have estimator call me. Later I called again and got hold of the estimator and he said it would most likely be Tuesday!! I don't know about others, but I do not have three days to wait for the un-arriving truck from Boland Maloney. This was a total cluster*@@( and I have written off Boland Maloney for any future projects. By the way, when I went to pick up the OSB replacement for the roof sheathing - the guy in the back that is supposed to retrieve the lumber has a bad arm and cannot lift lumber - so I loaded the lumber in my truck. If this saves you from making the same mistake that I did - this write-up was worth the time. DP"
