"No tickets are sold on site. It's a great place to visit if you like observing the stars. The park is also huge, but watch for Alligators. The only downside to visiting the Observatory is that the parking lot isn't well lit and you have to walk through the woods on a dimly lit path to get to it. I understand they want to limit lighting in the area to maximize star gazing, but a small trolley or golf cart would be nice for transport."
"Spent an evening here to see the planets and stars. Despite being a little cloudy we still saw some amazing things. Saw Saturn and Jupiter. It’s a reallly fun night out with older kids and adults. A lot of waiting around so maybe not best for younger kids. You have to take turns with everyone else to look through the huge telescopes. Staff were super helpful and patient. It was a fantastic way to spend an evening with the family."
"Volunteers and group leads are really awesome.. so knowledgeable, I never regret going there. If you don’t find tickets online (I never do), still show up there and after 15 min if somebody don’t show up.. you get the tickets. I have been lucky twice. It’s very intriguing to see beyond sky. They always have some galaxy or stars or black star, or something on their telescopes. Keep your white flashes off though."
"Excellent experience and the volunteers sharing their knowledge made our visit a great time. Perfect on a clear night, but programs are available even if it turns out to be cloudy on the night you have tickets. Great for older kids with an interest in space who are old enough to be relatively quiet."
