"My 1995 Porsche 993 is my out-and-about daily driver. To keep this now 27 year old car as reliable, usable, everyday fun does take some vigilance in maintenance. Keeping small problems small has defined my approach to caring for this classic which means regular routine service/inspection, some pre-emptive replacement/renewal of known-trouble-parts, and immediate repair of any surprise system failures. I want to give a major shout-out to Chris Casarez and Flat6Werks in Stafford, Texas 77477 for the outstanding service that they have provided my 993. • I had my car’s steering rack rebuilt and tie-rod ends replaced (wow what a difference in drivability/handling --- maybe the most dramatic one-off -improvement I’ve experienced since owning the car --- 18 years now). • It had been quite a while since the valve cover gaskets had been replaced and annoying oil spots were messing up the garage floor --- a camshaft o-ring was also a culprit --- Chris’ repairs fixed my issues ---no leaks now. • Recently, I had one of those surprise failures that Chris figured out and repaired. After 18 years of ownership, I’ve become reasonably “tuned” to the expected sounds of my car and know when something doesn’t sound right. I took the car to Chris and it was pretty clear that the cooling fan bearing was shot. After replacement, Chris determined that the system was still not right. The formerly powder-coated cooling fan assembly, itself, had chips, was showing signs of de-laminating and was out-of-round. Chris was able to secure an OEM replacement. Reassembly and belt adjustment solved the problem --- thankyou. For anybody loving, appreciating, and driving these wonderful air-cooled machines, it’s essential to partner with a service mechanic with deep expertise, good judgment, high professional standards/business-ethics, and proven dependability. If you’re lucky enough to have one of these Classic Porsches, consider Chris and Flat6Werks for this mechanic partner."
