"I recently had my first cleaning and examination at West University Dentistry after my prior dentist retired. I found my hygienist Laura to be sensitive, informative and quite pleasant. Dr. Pickei's examination showed good knowledge of concern areas and realistic, cost-considering approach to care that was a good customer experience. Linda was also friendly and helpful."

"Dr. Pickei bought the practice from my dentist Dr. Seale. I was happy to continue going to the practice. I double checked with them to make sure they took my insurance. I was assured they did and that my portion would be $92.40. The dental hygienist who usually cleaned my teeth was not available on the day I could go. They set me up with Maria. I arrived at the office and filled in new paper work including my current address. I walked into Maria’s area, sat down, and the first thing she said to me was “Oh, I thought my first patient of the day was young, this must be an old picture of you.” I kid you not! This is a professional in her 30’s. Wow, just wow. I was too stunned to say anything. After the cleaning, I saw Dr. Pickei. He seemed like a very nice man. When I went to check out I was told my bill had gone up to over $200. I paid $100 and told her to bill me for the rest. I let his assistant know about what Maria said first. I got home and decided to call Dr. Pickei regarding the insensitive and insulting comment from Maria. I suggested he speak to her. I thought maybe I would get some sort of apology from her or him but I heard nothing. 3 months pass and they called wanting to ask about my overdue account. The address they sent it to was one I hadn’t lived at in over 3 years. I told her I filled out new paperwork with my current address, why wasn’t it updated? The new bill arrived. My expected payment went from $92.40 to $433. I told her had she told me that before I got there, I would have gone elsewhere. I wrote Dr. Pickei and told him I thought that was bad business, plus reminded him about being insulted by Maria, and I would consider my bill PIF. He wrote back, thanked me for being honest with him, but he would turn it over to collections. Never once did he mention Maria, or the incompetence in his office. Truly disappointed with my experience there. PS- They ask patients to review them on google, so here you go. ****As you can see in the owner’s response, as with his letter to me, no acknowledgement regarding what his hygienist said to me, no apology from him, or her. And, while I understand insurance can differ from estimates, being charged over 4 times what I was quoted is bad business. I waited several months before reviewing this practice. I was hoping for some sort of apology for her extreme lack of professionalism. Crickets. His silence speaks volumes about his character. I have other friends who have stopped going there since he took over."
