"The food was delicious! The dosa tacos are amazing and I can’t believe no one else is doing it, what a great idea! They were so tasty and the sauces were just a perfect addition to the tacos. We also got a sandwich too but the star of the show was still the tacos. The chai is also really good too! Would definitely come back again!"
"The dosa tacos and sandwich were so delicious! Easily the best Indian fusion spot in Austin! Sauces that they add on top are so unique and tasty, and the food was the perfect level of spice. Service was also great and everything was so fresh. Will definitely be back!"
"Really tasty Chicken Sandwich. I love how crispy the bread is. The sauces that came with the sandwiches were very delicious! I also really like the fusion twist of dosa tacos. The dosas were thick enough to accommodate some fun flavors. Also appreciate that they provide halal meat!"
"Rote Shaq is a unique and tasty place to enjoy pizza with an Indian twist. The menu offers a variety of flat bread pizzas, panini sandwiches, wraps, tacos, and rice bowls, all with your choice of protein, spice level, and toppings. The food is fresh, flavorful, and filling, and the prices are very reasonable. The service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and cozy."
"Firstly, we were so excited to try out this place as it had an interesting fusion of “Dosa” (a south-Indian food), and “Taco” (Mexican). It is indeed a very new concept and since we like both of them, we were waiting to try it out. Unfortunately, the food was not up to the standards or hype that we saw or heard. Having tasted Dosa’s right from childhood this definitely was a turn off. If you’re going to advertise your concept as “Dosa-tacos” and have multiple flavors of Paneer, Falafel, Chicken etc,. — then it is that Dosa that’s the main ingredient of the taco — which needs to hold your items together, but it was of very poor taste, and texture (it was over fermented that made it taste so sour). The chutneys and other items (assuming it’s sambhar) were so cold that we weren’t able to use any of those. And every item, by default, had two sauces — white and a yellow one — unsure what that is. Only thing that was great was the “Masala fries”, and the rest all were very very ordinary and needs a lot of improvement in terms of taste, texture, and spices. The people are so kind, hard working, and have a good ambience, and if they focus on improving the quality of food, I’d be definitely worth the visit!"
