"I've never been disappointed with this place. I've been here almost 8 times now. If you are into suchi, this is the place to be at. Even their vegetarian options taste amazing."
"The food is wonderful as always. High-quality ingredients and excellent execution. My favorite dish of the night was the A5 makimono. All of the ingredients were balanced and worked so well together that I was so confused and enjoyed eating it at the same time. My second favorite was the Kinoko Nabe. I called it a fancy fried rice (Sorry chef.) It's similar to the Korean bibimbap where they serve the dish in a hot bowl, mix it in front of you. I added the Foie Gras to the dish. We also tried the trout roe. It was served with taro chips; however, I'd prefer to pair it with something softer since I like the texture of the roe and did not want the crispy chips to overpowered it. We pretty much knew what we wanted to order. We ordered all of the items at the start of the night, so the waitress could pace them out. I'd recommend doing this because the food portion is small so you don't want to order 1 or 2 items at a time due to wait time. This time the wait in between dishes was a bit uneven than I expected: sometimes it was too slow, and sometimes the food came all at once."
"Uchi is the Grande Dame of the Austin food scene and for good reason. Chef Tyson can elevate anything - the Uchi salad is tasty, inventive (almost whimsical), and still just lettuce and cucumbers but spectacular fun to eat and share. He also shows premium ingredients their proper respect - the octopus Thom Kha is perfect. Octopus is a wonderful ingredient that most places get wrong. This is one of the top preparations of this ingredient I have had. The signature Hamachi was really good and a wonderful refreshing main for my meal. Both of my companions got sticky rice bowls. Pro-tip for non-veggies: add short rib to your sticky rice bowl for a little protein and to send this dish over the edge. Excellent option as is for vegetarians. Parking was easy and the valet is complimentary (please remember to tip.) Great atmosphere, great service, amazing food. Absolutely worth it. And reasonably priced for such a high end experience. Try to get a booth or sit at the sushi bar for optimal seating."
"Uchi still shines after all these years. From the Shag Roll to the desserts the food is amazing. The service is spot on, never intrusive but always there when you need something. Truly one of the best restaurants in Austin."
"I’ve become an Uchi-convert. Yes it is expensive but the food is exquisite. Every bite is delightful, and the service is top notch. The only complaint is that it can get very noisy. We went with the omakase for a few visits to the restaurant but now know enough about the menu to order on our own. The cool tastings are some of the best sashimi we’ve had. And believe it or not, the desserts are out of this world."
