"It’s great!!! Went for my birthday and they had no problem taking my party of 8! Loved the environment and energy. Everyone loved they’re drinks and food. The service was amazing. It was quite busy for a Sunday night but still got Greta service and experience. Overall a great place."
"Review of RA Sushi in Downtown Austin, TX I recently had the pleasure of dining at RA Sushi in downtown Austin, TX with my wife and son, and it was truly a delightful experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with a modern and vibrant atmosphere that set the tone for a great evening. Service and Staff The wait staff at RA Sushi were not only attentive but also incredibly friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure that we felt welcomed and taken care of throughout our meal. Their knowledge of the menu was impressive, and they were more than happy to offer recommendations based on our preferences. Food Quality The food at RA Sushi was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was beautifully presented, showcasing the skill and attention to detail of the chefs. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, and it was evident that high-quality ingredients were used in every dish. From the sushi rolls to the sashimi, each bite was a true delight. Management Interaction One aspect of our dining experience that truly stood out was the personal touch of the management team at RA Sushi. It was a pleasant surprise when they came out to introduce themselves, ensuring that everything was to our liking. "This is a sushi chain, so we went in with that expectation. Not a huge fan of the interior ambiance, especially the stairs, and we had to go to the bar to be sat for our reservation (no one at host stand). We ate outside by the fire, which was beautiful. The crunch calamari roll was AMAZING, seriously the best thing we had by far! Other dishes were ok, nothing mind blowing. Drinks were also ok, not bad but not great. The views from the outdoor patio next to the fire made the whole experience. Our bartender was very personable, and they did their best while we were waiting for our table to be cleared. Our waitstaff you could tell was rushed, although it didn’t appear to be too busy. Again, overall fine experience, though there are other places in Austin that we will go before coming back here."
"The service here is kind of lack luster. Our waiter didn’t refill our waters for almost the entire visit. It took over 20 minutes for a cocktail I ordered mid meal to come so my food was basically finished by the time it finally arrived. Our appetizer came out after the main course. The edamame was just okay. The vegetarian roll was 30% low quality spring mix that absolutely ruined it. Plus the vegetarian roll was poorly wrapped so it was just falling apart everywhere. The food is over priced for the mediocre quality. I have heard RA described as the Chili’s of Austin Sushi restaurants and it’s pretty on par with my experience."
"I haven’t been here in a few years and a friend was in town so I decided to take them here. It was very good last time I had gone here so I suggested we go. Big mistake and very disappointing. We went on a Thursday evening around 9. We had reservations but the place was nearly empty. The stairway leading up was dark and we couldn’t even see some of the steps. The red globes were missing on a few lamps which resulted in a blinging white light as you walked up. We were seated promptly but had to wait just a tad while a table was cleaned on the outside area. The decor inside was good and was like I had remembered it from before. We had to wait for a while before our server made contact with our table. He was very friendly and personable and very cute with a great smile. Food wise we first tried the filet mignon skewers. For about $18 I expected a great dish. It took a while for it to come out. When it finally did however, the pieces were extremely small and basically cooked to being inedible. The pieces were about the size of a thumbnail and cooked very well done. Too well. They lacked flavor. The plating lacked garnish which made it unappealing when the runner brought it out. When our server did come by he immediately stated that it looked too brown and could tell it was overcooked. We also ordered the pictured items and also the spicy chicken fried rice. There’s spicy and then there’s spicy. OMG it was so hot with a ton of the chili sauce that made it unenjoyable. There needs to be a warning if it’s that hot. My friend loves spicy food but could not eat that. Our server removed the skewers and offered some replacements instead. The shrimp tempura and the Ra Ra shrimp. They were decent but the shrimp tempura lacked plating appeal. The Ra Ra shrimp was ok and was the best looking plating of the night. For the prices that Ra is charging I expecting the quality and presentation to be extremely high which was not the case. The views are great and parking is wherever you can find it as it is located downtown. Ra needs to seriously address the kitchen issues and step up their game if they want to stay open. The staff was very cute, professional and very friendly which was a nice experience."
