"We reserved Poke E Joe's back room for our wedding rehearsal dinner and it was perfect. We arrived much later than we anticipated but they were prepared, ready and patient with our crowd. All employees were friendly and kind. The food was great and the room was just what we needed for our occasion. Thank you guys so much for making this stress free and fun!! We appreciate each of you."
"Great service, BBQ, and sweet BBQ sauce, but I wasn't a fan of the beans or lemonade. Something about the taste was off on the beans and the lemonade was not my favorite. The Texas toast was perfect. For spending so much money, I really want the food to be fantastic. I loved the ambiance, though. It reminded me of the inside of a farm supply store we went to for animal feed as a kid. Update: we went back because this is a convenient location for us. The broccoli is drowning in plastic fake cheese and the Mac and cheese is probably in the same cheese, but it tastes so dang good. The fries were fried fresh. I gave the lemonade another shot and when watered down by melted ice, it's better."
"Yesterday I passed up many barbecue restaurants and drove to Pokejoes on Parmer 8.6 miles away. I ordered a special meal for relatives who had moved Michigan. They were suffering from an acute case of Texas barbecue deprivation. I treated them with brisket, ribs, sausage, beans, okra, potato salad, coleslaw, mild sauce and Texas toast and everything was perfect. The cure was very successful and greatly appreciated. When I got to the cashier I realized I had forgotten my wallet. I told the manager, Devon, what I had done and offered to leave my watch as collateral but he said he trusted me. I returned after we had eaten and settled up. I won’t get barbecue anywhere else. If Devon hears from others who have forgotten their wallets I suspect he’ll ask about the brand of watch they are willing to leave."
"The food is delicious. I especially like their broccoli salad. The brisket is pretty good as well, and the different sauces are very tasty. The servers are nice. The layout of the tables seems nice, although I ordered take-out. The food is comparable to other BBQ restaurants that charge more. If you like BBQ, then give these guys a try. I did and I liked it!"
