Paperboy

"Perhaps this was a case of building up unattainably high expectations, however my brunch experience at Paperboy left me with a been-there-done-that aftertaste. The menu offers a small selection of typical brunch dishes. Not wanting eggs and potatoes, I ordered the Ricotta Toast. The toast was extremely hard to cut through, which may have been due to the fact that it was quite burnt on the underside. Because it took quite a while for the order to be placed on our tables, I chose not to bring it to the server’s attention that the burnt toast made it nearly impossible to eat. I tried to use a meat knife instead of a regular one, and it could barely get the job done. The ricotta + basil flavour was good. The cheddar hash tasted fine. The corn-bread-type pancake was great, something a little unique. The best item from what I got was the salted caramel iced oat milk latte. Overall, I am sure this place is a frequent haunt for many, and the pretty walls and cute ambience certainly give it ‘brunch spot’ vibes, however I cannot imagine wanting to repeat a $45 brunch (per person) here. Service was friendly but slow, and the bill included a 23% gratuity for a large party, but you will wonder what makes a group a regular party, if a group of 5 is a large party."

"3.5 Stars.. Unpopular opinion but this place was just OKAY for us. Definitely didn’t live up to the hype. I really enjoyed the eggs, breakfast potatoes, and salted caramel latte. The biscuit was dry and the sausage was different. The pancake was thick as expected based on reviews but it had the consistency of cornbread. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but I doubt we’ll return. Service was good and server was friendly, the atmosphere was nice."

"This place was a pleasant surprise. I heard great things about it and the reviews were great and it lived up to the hype. Totally recommend this place. For starters the Cinnamon toast was delicious. So warm and tasty. One of the best. We also ordered the spiced apple pop tart and the filling was great. Both really hit the spot before my main order of chilaquiles arrived. They were great too and the presentation was nice. The place gets crowded and there’s a bit of a wait, even with a reservation. The restaurant has a funky layout which can be a little narrow and tight to walk through. The place is clean and the service offers s good. I recommend this place if you’re looking for a good breakfast place."

"Wow! The vibe, style, decor, and design is right up my alley. Absolutely OBSESSED!! plus the food was incredible! As were the coffees & cocktails. Best meal to start the day - fantastic meal and food for the eyes and soul too."
