Green's Bluff Trail Head
About the Business
Green's Bluff Trail Head is a beautiful park and tourist attraction located at County Road 75 East in Spencer, Indiana, United States. The institution has undergone great improvements, with new trails and interpretive signage added to enhance visitor enjoyment. Thanks to a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, a second trail and ten acres of pollinator habitat have been created at the preserve.
Visitors can explore the North Loop Trail, a 1.2-mile moderate loop trail through the northern section of Green’s Bluff, or the Raccoon Woods Trail, a 1.4-mile moderate loop trail through the newer southern section. Both trails offer opportunities to spot migrating birds, admire colorful leaves, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
The park features steep sandstone cliffs along Raccoon Creek, hemlock groves, beech-maple woods, and a variety of rare plants and wildlife. Spring is a great time to see wildflowers, while the nesting rookery of great blue herons provides a unique wildlife viewing experience.
Owned by The Nature Conservancy, Green's Bluff is part of a network of preserves that protect wildlife and natural systems across the United States. Visitors are encouraged to follow TNC's Preserve Visitation Guidelines and respect the natural environment while exploring the trails.
Whether you're a nature lover, hiker, or birdwatcher, Green's Bluff Trail Head offers a peaceful escape into the beauty of Indiana's natural landscape. Experience the wonders of this preserve and connect with the natural world during your visit.

"such a cool place, a gem really. one of the very few, accessible spots in Indiana to see and walk amongst native Hemlock trees - one of only 2 true evergreen trees to grow natively in IN (Eastern Red Cedar is the other). this hike has lush forests with lots of ferns and wildflowers + a nice stretch along Raccoon Creek + an amazing section along sandstone bluffs. truly a place to visit"
"Absolutely beautiful in the fall. The trail section that runs just below the bluff is rather dangerous with a significant drop near the trail and not suited for those who aren’t sure footed or when the trial is wet. The remainder of both trail sections are very pretty and well marked."
"My first visit and wasn't dissappoint at all and wasn't expecting to discovered this along the trail is a foundation of a residence home and a old well!!!....while here came across a gas cap, a plow blade, a iron bar stuck in a tree. *nothing was took, only pictues. While was there did hear a owl. Visit February 7th,2023."
"Beautiful, secluded spot with plenty of critters and pretty fungi. A challenging find - may be like the Room of Requirement in that it is only available when you most need it. Consider wearing pants on the hike as the grass grows high at the bottom of the bluff."
