"Recently I decided to replace my 21-year-old HVAC system. Currently my HVAC system consisted of two AC units and two furnaces to heat and cool the basement, 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors, just over 5400 sq ft. My plan was to get 3 estimates from reputable companies I felt would stand behind their products and offer extended warranties and service plans. I scheduled my first appointment with a well-known HVAC company. They provided me with 3 options ranging in price. In addition, I wanted an estimate to move one of my furnaces about 4 feet to the back wall to open the room to make it more useable, they wanted $4,500 in addition to the costs of two new AC units and two furnaces. Then I reached out to LCS Heating & Cooling for a 2nd estimate. I made sure I was comparing apples to apples regarding the level of equipment and warranty. They sent Jim, one of their System Specialists who has more than 31 years of HVAC experience to review my current HVAC equipment and perform an HVAC load calculation to determine my exact heating and AC requirements. I was surprised when he recommended that I only needed to purchase a single AC & furnace and have them zoned to match my current system. LCS assured me that a single system would easily satisfy my HVAC requirements. I had no idea this was an option, especially since I just received an estimate from a well know HVAC company who never mentioned it. Once LCS educated me on the new technology which allows a single system to work only as hard as it must to meet whatever cooling or heating requirements using multiple zones, it made sense. Then came the challenging part, the installation! Selling the equipment is the easy part, but having it installed professionally to where it looks perfect is where the rubber meets the road. And to make matters worse, I am very particular whenever I hire anyone to do any kind of work, I expect it to be done professionally and for them to clean up after themselves. I am happy to report that the LCS installation team led by Jose along with Mike, Al, Luis, MI Jail and Jair were up to the task. This was no small job, they had to remove two furnaces/AC units and all the associated duct work. Then they relocated the furnace against the wall to open the room, this required a lot of customized duct work to tie into my existing duct system and they kept me in the loop every step along the way. They worked tirelessly for several days and ended up doing a “pro-level” installation! Conclusion: After getting my 2nd estimate from LCS I didn’t bother worrying about getting 3rd estimate. I think in the end, if you compare apples to apples regarding the equipment/warranty among reputable companies my guess is the costs are going to be very similar, regardless of what sales gimmick they may be offering. So, for me, it was about having faith in their installation team and their willingness to accommodate my request to relocate the furnace without breaking the bank. And their honesty in not trying to sell me two complete HVAC systems when one is more than sufficient. And also having confidence in that they’re going to stand behind the equipment/warranty issues if they come up. There is a reason LCS has a 5-star rating on Google with 800 reviews, because they’ve earned it. I felt it was their customer service that separated LCS from many of the other HVAC companies. I couldn’t be happier with the result, and my total cost savings from the first estimate for comparable equipment/warranty including the cost to relocate the furnace was over 25K. Not to mention future cost savings of having to maintain, service and operate one AC unit and one furnace instead of two!"
