Seven Pillars Nature Preserve - ACRES Land Trust
About the Business
Seven Pillars Nature Preserve, located at 3985 Mississinewa Road in Peru, Indiana, is a park managed by the ACRES Land Trust. The preserve is named after the iconic limestone pillars on the north side of the Mississinewa River, which have been shaped by centuries of erosion. Visitors can enjoy spotting bald eagles fishing along the river banks in late winter and early spring, as well as exploring the forest filled with spring wildflowers such as spring beauty, Dutchman’s breeches, and squirrel corn. The land is sacred to the Miami people, and the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana still gather at the site today. ACRES Land Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting natural and working lands in northeast Indiana, southern Michigan, and northwest Ohio. With the support of over 2,000 members, ACRES is able to preserve these areas and provide free public access to their trail systems, which are open daily from dawn to dusk.

Reviews
"We love riding the Harley Davidson there . We walk around and have a picnic and enjoy the weather."
"This was a great little hike. The best part is the river is low enough you could actually wade to the pillars if you wanted to as well currently. Although I didn't cross the river, it wasn't very deep and the river bottom was half exposed. The trails were well marked and mostly clear. Some areas have more vegetation growing into the trail, but it is small sections. Definitely a nice little hike!"
"What a beautiful place to see! On a hot day to walk around in the water and see the amazing cliffs ! A must see on anyones bucket list!"
"Beautiful place to cool off on a hot day. Nice trail as well. A few steep hills but not too bad."
"Beautiful (mid-October, all yellow) walk up a hill in the woods and across the street from the parking lot along the river are the 25' limestone pillars. Oddly, there is a road across the top of the pillars but it is still a beautiful site to see on the Mississinewa. It's a perfect spot for kids - you can walk out into the river's edge on pebbles for a good view (attention Indiana photographers) and skipping stones. I was more in awe of the woods than the limestone but maybe it was just an off day for the landmark..."
