Midwest Low Vision
About the Business
Midwest Low Vision, located at 660 South College Avenue in Bloomington, Indiana, is a specialized eye care institution that focuses on providing services for individuals with low vision. Led by owner and optometrist Dr. W. Jarrod Long, Midwest Low Vision aims to help patients regain their ability to perform everyday tasks such as reading and driving. Dr. Long, who has been offering low vision services since 1997, formed Midwest Low Vision in 2006 to expand his reach and scope of practice.
Using special charts and techniques, Dr. Long assesses the remaining vision of each patient and prescribes special glasses tailored to their specific needs, particularly for conditions like Macular Degeneration. In addition to optical aids, Dr. Long can recommend non-optical aids to enhance visual function. Patients have praised the team at Midwest Low Vision for their informative and life-changing experiences, with many expressing gratitude for the improvement in their vision and quality of life.
Midwest Low Vision serves patients from Indiana, Eastern Illinois, and Northern Kentucky, offering appointments throughout the week. The institution's dedication to helping individuals with low vision achieve their visual goals sets it apart as a valuable resource for those seeking specialized eye care services.

"My Dad was having trouble reading music because of Macular Degeneration. Dr Jarrod Long worked with my Dad to help him see music by trying different things. He got my Dad to the point he could see music again. He worked with him when his vision changed until Dad could not see even with the things Dr Jarrod had found/made for him. I really appreciated Dr Jarrod's persistence in finding help for my Dad. Dad sang all his life & with Dr Jarrod's help he got to sing until he could no longer sing. Dr Jarrod is caring, compassionate person who is a wonderful low vision Dr. Thanks Dr Jarrod for helping my Dad."
"Working with Dr Long and Holly have been a great experience for me. I never knew there was this type of visual aids available for my eye condition. It truly is amazing to see clearly again. They are a blessing!"
"Dr. Long and Holly are fabulous. They worked closely with my 15 yr old. He is seeing color for the first time with help. They took their time with us (our appointment ran over the allotted time). We were never rushed. For the first time with all the other eye doctors he’s seen we had real help. He’s going to be able to drive and see all the color he’s been missing. Please make an appointment to see if they can help with your low vision needs."
"Excellent care! We loved the service from the Low Vision clinic. The best part is they found something that will help! Very caring staff, everyone so helpful!"
"I have been seeing Dr. Long for about 5-6 years now. He is very friendly, patient, and has a great personality that makes him easy to talk to and get along with. I feel very comfortable going here and I trust Dr. Long with my vision, I think he is very knowledgeable."
