"I had an awful experience. My father and I made the drive up there all the way from Cullman on a late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Got there with our large dog that had to be carried by us because she could hardly walk and when she did she was struggling to breath. They took her back on a gurney, several minutes later the vet came dragging her out by a rope leash saying “YOUR DOG IS CURED! SHE CAN WALK AGAIN!” We were appalled to say the least, our poor girl had her mouth hanging open and was panting uncontrollably as she CONTINUED to struggle to breathe. When we got back into an exam room we were met with a bill of $700 and we wanted to do what we could for her so we paid it. After all of the testing we were told she possibly had a liver illness/disease but they had no medicine for her there and to visit our normal vet on Monday. After paying $900 as our final bill we took her to her normal vet, where her x-rays were sent from this place. Our normal vet was able to easily see that she had a spleenic tumor and her chances of recovery were almost nothing. By this point, she could not walk at all and after tears we had to make the decision to put her down. This place diagnosed her wrong (we were in and out within 45 minutes) and therefore the medication they did give to help her was wrong and ineffective. If this vet had, at the very least, done her job then my poor girl could have at least been given something for her pain at the very least. Instead, we were rushed in and out and given NO COMPASSION for our dog that was visibly struggling to breathe and walk."
"I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! Last night my husband took our deaf blue heeler after 11 p.m because she was unable to sit up and hold her eyes open, or even make any sounds, she would attempt to bark or whine and absolutely no sound came out, we knew something was wrong with our usually very energetic girl, so my husband gets there and pays the $125 the charge just to come in the door, then he waits and they take him back to her, and she’s still in her crate and they ask him to get her out, they haven’t touched or even attempted to look at our girl, and then the Vet comes in and says what’s wrong with her and said “you got me out of bed for this?” First off, if those are the words you choose to use ma’am you are in the wrong line of work. We come to you hoping you can help us with our fur baby because she is in very bad shape suddenly and you have this type of attitude, it’s absolutely ridiculous.. needless to say they wanted charge hundreds of dollars for a few test, heartworm being one, and I am not vet but I know that is not the issue. I felt like she may have been having either a mild stroke or something of that nature. They told him he could wait and come back Monday if she’s still doing the same. Needless to say my husband chose to just bring her back home and hope she could be fine and make it until Monday so we could get her to OUR vet. I really wished they had after hours and wouldn’t have had to even deal with driving all the way to Decatur to find someone and be treated like that. I will say my husband said the nurse there was very nice but the actual Vet herself was obviously very unhappy to have had to get out of bed for “this”… So like I said I wouldn’t recommend anyone go there."
"Someone very close to me went to this place on Saturday with her very sick dog and all they did was give her antibiotics…. Then today the dog was taken to the normal vet, and there are multiple things wrong and it’s not looking good. This could have been prevented if they did their job. There is also another story from Saturday that I heard about but it is not my place to share that one. But it wasn’t good. I will never take any of my dogs back here. Just make the drive up to Huntsville, it’s worth the time."
"Dr. Newman and his staff are great! He has performed surgery on my Gussie twice. She tore both CCLs one year apart and has made a full recovery each time. I love the fact that someone was with her overnight and that she was only there about 24 hours both times. I highly recommend Dr. Newman to anyone needing this type service."
