"Great practice with amazing physicians! Same day appointments available and the on call doctor always calls you within minutes."
"We decided to take our child to Pediatric Associates of Avon from the very start because Dr. Cosgrove came so highly recommended. Everyone raved about how good he was with their kids but were sure to tell us that he runs behind because he takes the time to listen to parents’ concerns and answer questions . That is not the experience we had with him at all. I had to take my child in for same day appointments (because that’s all I was offered) a handful of times and for legitimate reasons. I’m a former medical professional as well as a stay at home mom so I’m very in tune to what is and isn’t normal for my child. I had taken my child in several times because of his excessive spitting up. Every time I was told that “baby’s just spit up.” At 10 1/2 months, with zero help from Dr. Cosgrove, we found out that our child cannot process lactose. Yes, my child will likely grow out of it but knowing this sooner could have saved my child months of suffering because I assure you, my child was suffering. I also addressed the fact that calling the nurse line was useless because we usually got a different answer than what he would give us if we brought my child in. He literally told me “that’s why you bring him in.” Yet the next time I brought my child in he said in the same breath that I did the right thing by waiting awhile and then bringing my child in but that I also bring my child in too much. Okay, which is it? It’s been incredibly frustrating dealing with Dr. Cosgrove’s inconsistencies. When my child was born he told us to bring him in even if it was just to rule something out but then later tells me I bring my child in too much. Plus the entire idea of him running behind because he takes time to listen and answer questions is 100% false! I mean, if that is the case it’s definitely not the case for us. He’s always halfway out the door before I can even spit out what I’m trying to say. I tried on several occasions to chalk things up to my own opinions and anxieties but after talking with multiple other parents I had to quit taking responsibility for failures that weren’t mine. Enough is enough so we left their practice."
"Do not go here. This office is more about the money. The receptionist older lady was very rude and argumentative with me about the care that I received at their office. Dr Lopez costed me more money because she failed to diagnose a severe cough that an urgent care doctor diagnosed within just five minutes from hearing. My son coughed so hard in the waiting room. Dr Lopez seems very confused Unprepared and doesn’t have any real information about anything. She clearly does not do her homework on her patients. I do not agree with the care that I receive. Somehow I have a $300 bill in which I assume the office charges people whatever they want to charge based off of the previous reviews that I have read. I do not agree to pay for an adequate care. I have paid all previous bills, which I am confused about because it seems to me as if I didn’t pay any of them, but I know I did. Regardless, the receptionist at front really made me mad and she was rude and when I went to get a school note for my child, she was online shopping, this place is unprofessional. The staff is very rude Dr. Shmalo. He is great with kids and he’s very thorough and very attentive. That is what makes it hard for me because I like him as a doctor but everything surrounding him is not so impressive do yourself a favor pay attention to the reviews being written about this place, because they are true."
"WARNING: Do NOT go to this office for your child. If you already go there, I suggest switching to a different Pediatrician. I have been going to this clinic for a while. Everything was fine and dandy until something came up that made me seriously doubt the integrity and ethics of this office. My husband and I took our daughter in for immunization and I brought it up as a side note that my daughter has a bit of itch in one ear. Nothing serious, nothing medical urgent. Just thought that since the doctor was already there, he might as well take a quick look. He looked with an otoscope, saw a small blue lint of some sort, and took it out with a plastic stick. All of that took less than 1 minute. Now we received a bill for over $300 just for that. I believe that the doctor should've informed us that it would cost this much just for him to perform a 1-minute "procedure". I contested that the doctor should've had the ethical courtesy to inform us that this would be billed as a procedure and asked if we'd like to him to proceed. Had we known, we absolutely would've refused this "procedure" and bought a $20 otoscope at the local pharmacy to flick out this small lint with a Q-tip. The doctors are the owners of this private Peds office and they are NOT affiliated with IU Health. They know how to bill and how much the billing would normally incur. The fact that the doctor did not inform us that he'd bill this simple 1-minute action as a money-grabbing $300 procedure to give us a chance to refuse the service makes me doubt the ethics of his practice. I called their billing department and of course, they will not change anything. They stated that if I didn't want anything done, then I shouldn't have brought my child in. They also stated that the doctor's time, even if just 1-minute is worth the $300 since he performed a "procedure". If you are an IU Health employee like me, do NOT go there. Part of the reason that I went there was because of my job at IU Health West and the proximity of this Peds office to my job. Switch to a more ethical Pediatrician that will care more about your child than squeezing money out of you."
"My kids see Dr. Cosgrove and Gill and I like both of them very much. I feel very comfortable with both. We've also seen the other two doctors for illnesses and feel like we could see any of the doctors in the practice. Cosgrove is great with my boys- they feel very at ease with him. Dr. Gill sees my daughter and she is very sweet knowledgeable. I love that they do same day illness visits and are open on Saturdays so I don't have to go to urgent care!!!"
