Relato Bloomington

"I guess most people are compelled to write a review only when they have something to complain about. When things are good, they are taken for granted. I want to share a positive review on Relato. My son moved to Relato on August 19, 2023, grand opening of the building. He lives in one bedroom apartment. It is true that the rent is high for the address that is quite far from the IU campus- however, there are so many perks and good things that come with Relato, and I want to mention at least some of them. First of all, the apartment is furnished with everything that is needed for a single person to live comfortably and focus on studying and not ordering furniture. All appliances were new upon moving in last year. Kitchen island proved to be very convenient and functions as a kitchen table. I bought extra stools for occasional guests. The apartment has a lovely little terrace, has a washer and a dryer in the unit. The building comes with a resort style swimming pool, there is a gym, game room, study hall, lounge, etc. inner courtyard is like inside of a castle, protected from the outside world, and the pool in the center; i like that very much. The common areas are painted in bright colors of yellow and orange, there is something of 1970th in the look. The handyman is helpful. I have never seen the horrors that other people described in other reviews. Garbage was not seen in the hallway, no water leaks, i did not witness fire alarms, the staff is polite and friendly. If there is an overcharge on the rent bill, if it is an error they fix it immediately. It is safe, comfortable and a cozy living in Relato. Also, almost every weekend the management offers bagels and coffee for free in the lounge, they also throw pizza parties, etc. if it was not expensive, I would encourage my son to renew the lease for 2024-2025 school year."

"I am loving Relato!! The amenities are so amazing and everything is kept very clean. Waking into the property and a unit for the first time was nothing less than JAW DROPPING - the property is gorgeous. I love having a gym and study area right there, and being able to grab a coffee really quick from the clubroom. They are pet friendly so there are the cutest puppies running around all the time. Any questions that I have had the office was quick to answer. Maintenance always takes care of anything i need and are so nice when they do. I could not recommend living anywhere else in Bloomington Relato really is the best!!"

"STAY FAR AWAY!!! If this is the only apartment option when you're looking for a place to live...go to an extended stay hotel instead. Trust me, you'll thank me later. Me and my bank account were hoping for more. It's nice to have all bills paid, fully furnished, and a parking garage, but honestly it's not worth it. My husband and I have been living here for 8 weeks and the experience has left much to be desired. First, let's start with the fire alarms. We've had EIGHT(!)...8 in eight weeks!!! The most recent was early this morning, 10/9/23, at 4:26am! The firemen are even starting to get frustrated. Sadly, residents rarely even leave their apartments anymore due to the false alarms. I'm a doc student and need my peace...and uninterrupted sleep. Management doesn't seem to care. They just want their rent. That brings me to the next point. Due to this being new construction, apartment-wide move-in was 8/18/23. No proration here, the entire month of August was due by move-in. A full month's payment for 13 days of residence. Then September's rent was due on the 1st. It's a VERY expensive apartment. If you read otherwise, they've probably never lived on their own before. My 620 sq ft 1-br apartment is only $400 less than the mortgage on my 3000 sq ft 4-br house back home. So where are these funds going? It's not the fire alarms. Your guess is as good as mine. Speaking of funds, if you decide to move here leave your spouse at home. There is a $200 co-occupancy charge...even in a 1-br with a double bed. Appliances barely work, the trash doesn't get picked up, the gates are bipolar, you might discover phantom charges, the poor maintenance guy is overworked so it might be a while before he gets to your concern, and did I mention the fire alarms? Oh GOD...the fire alarms. No accountability whatsoever. I can't wait to get out of here!"

"Labor Day weekend here has been hell! - Rent got overcharged by $600 due to some accounting error. - Trash is piling up in the hallways due to a locked trash room. The problem was reported on Friday during business hours. It hasn’t been solved. It’s Monday. - Water coming out from light fixtures, and air vents in the bathroom. The problem reported on Sunday during business hours. It was not deemed an emergency and will not be addressed until Tuesday “due to the holiday weekend.” - Neighbor upstairs came back from a trip to an apartment filled with sewage water. Its coming up from her toilet and shower drain from who knows where. The office is closed. The maintenance emergency line goes straight to voicemail. There has been no response all day Monday after multiple attempts to contact administration and maintenance. I have no clue how the management of this apartment complex is running things. It’s borderline negligence."

"Here’s the honest review you’re looking for! This place has a serious trash problem and no one is doing anything about it. The trash room is always filled with trash bags and boxes. This is a photo of trash being piled in the hallway and it’s been that way for 5 days and no one has done anything. It makes the hallway smell gross. Also making the hallway inaccessible for some people. That will eventually attract cockroaches and bugs. I noticed late Saturday night that there was sewage water pouring out from the light fixture above the shower. Like what? Made a call for emergency maintenance, and no one responded. It’s been 12 hours and not a single person contacted me back. Does anyone work here?? This is seriously unacceptable. All that moisture and water will create mold for future residents. A nice looking place, but sadly very poorly managed. If you’re thinking about signing with Relato, good luck. There are many newer apartment complexes nearby that I’d suggest you checkout instead."
