"I spent a lot of time in this park in the 90's. It was then, the place to meet the LOCAL street kids, gutter punks, rainbow family and skaters. I was introduced to some of the best people of my life in that park and still count them as friends today. I have Many interesting stories that all began at its bench. I haven't set foot in the park since 2k1 and the thumb nail of the grandmother and with her grandkids playing tell me that its definitely not that same place now."
"Make a stop at the people’s park and take a moment to reflect on its history."
"Great place to gather with friends or make new friends in the city."
"Park's peace has gone through several phases, but it peaked in the 90s, when there were real live FBI agents hanging around trying to figure out who the dealers were. Back then you actually wanted to hang out there. Or maybe it was my age... But there was a thriving social scene. Over the last decade it has turned into a homeless mecca, and every time i walk by it's depressing. Good job kruzan! Oh i also want to mention that people's park was initially grassy, maybe two thirds. When the city decided to pave it 15 years ago at NOBODY'S request, they killed it."
"The people's park seems to be a microcosm for Bloomington. On any given weekday morning you'll see a lot of homeless people hanging around. Later in the day you'll see business people eating there lunches outside there. In the early evening families populate the area. In the late night the college students hang out in the area while populating the bars and restaurants. The park is not large, but provides needed green space to an otherwise very urban section of town. On the whole, it's a shady spot to hang out amongst the buildings with grass and trees, but nothing to write home about."
