"My mom was in the ICU. Two weeks in and staying with her from going to work and straight back everyday. 2 weeks in one evening I was asked to wait in the ICU waiting room so my mom would be bathed. After being told to come back I entered the glass walled ICU room noticing immediately mom with tears and fear on her face. I asked what happened, she explained the nurse discipline her by hitting her hand and arms. My mom was just trying to scratch. So I called the nurse and explained what happened and mentioned what is stopping from opening the glass door and seeking revenge on that nurse is because the right thing is to report it and i sat down in my chair. Now being called to a meeting with directors, head of security, police officer, supervisor nurse, the nurse I reported to. Come to find out they threatened me with terrisct threats. I called the nurse out and explained how we got to this point sitting in front of each other is because I reported it and sat down. I also had to explain in the meeting that I was experiencing new emotion because my mom never said to me someone hit her and the terrified look she had. The nurse who bathed my mom was just filling in and was not qualified to service in ICU. They came in asking after threatening me with arrest with the officer in the room what would I like them to do ? I responded get her off the floor and 2 minutes later they came back asking what else. I explained nothing I need to get back to mom. The extent to threatened me with terrisct threats and have a police officer talking and wanting to act. After showing the hospital was wrong no charges or threatening to enforce the law against the false report. I did mention #1 hospital and being treated in the ICU , far from that and intimidating tactics to protect that #1 status. This is a real story and facts. Please ask me. There is more as the weeks went on."
"My mother in law was admitted recently due to CHF, we found out today that she is being discharged after only receiving dialysis which is she already being treated for. The doctor doing the discharge never spoke to anyone in our family only whispering to the nurse and having the nurse relay the information to my Father in law and niece over the phone. No doctor has ever spoken to my family about the reason why she is being released. This is absolutely ridiculous and we still don’t have answers. This is supposed to be the best hospital yet the doctors don’t care about my mother in laws health care."
"The doctors and nurses at Houston Methodist Medical Center are the best of the best. My daughter was diagnosed with Gastroparesis two years ago and we have visited many of the hospitals in and around Houston, seeking treatment for her symptoms. After four hospitals failing to stop her vomiting, we went to Houston Methodist in the Medical Center. We stayed in the hospital for 2.5 weeks and the nurses and staff took excellent care of my daughter and showed me a ton of compassion as well, since I was “living there” with her during her entire stay. I appreciated that the hospital graciously allowed me to spend 24 hours a day there and provided me with pillows and sheets to make me comfortable. The nurses and doctors worked around the clock to ensure that my daughter received the care that she need and continued to run tests (including studies) until they could stop her vomiting (which lasted 3.5 weeks). While all of the other hospitals sent me home with a child that could not hold down food or water, Methodist Medical Center ensured that the procedure they performed was successful and that she could eat and drink on her own before releasing her. I was at my breaking point, thinking that my daughter was not going to survive this - not being able to eat or drink on her own, and Methodist Medical Center saw my distress and hopelessness and saved my daughter’s life. I will forever be grateful for the compassionate staff and exceptionally intelligent nurses and doctors that came up with a solution that worked for my daughter and allows her to live a normal life. In addition, the doctors continue to follow up with my daughter and ensure that the study is continuing to work … true compassion and caring! Thank you so much for being the best hospital with the best staff in Houston."
